Hey guys.

I did this sprite trying to get a cartoon like feel, but I'm not sure about the coloring and the shading. I know I used black outline - I thought it fitted well, but I know many are against.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

EDIT: Had a go at doing a female sprite in the same style...

You might want to work on making the woman's physique more feminine; less broadness in the shoulders, more slender arms, hips, etc.

Heheh...the heads are a little tilted, but I likey! I can imagine the fellow doing the sideways head-wagging. Aside from that, as zewb mentioned, the arms are a bit misshapen (or at least inconsistent with each other). The male has 1 arm thicker than the other, and the female has something strange going on with her arms also.

Those sprites are cool. I think you nailed the cartoon look pretty well. Helm addressed the only real issues with the arms of the sprites. I don't know, but how would the head look with ears? He has sort of an "earthworm" look as it is.

ThreeOhFour

Alright, I thought I'd give him some ears to stop him looking less earthworm-y  :D

Any better?

I kept them low saturation coz I think they'll stand out fairly well against a strong coloured backround.

I like those ears. I was a bit worried about how they'd fit, but they seem to work quite nicely.

I myself am a big fan of contrasts and saturation, but given the circumstances the low saturation on these characters work pretty well.
