Well, I found a neat little flash game called "Flash Element". It's not too hard to figure out. You have a maze, "creeps" try to get through the maze and if they do you lose life and gold. You build various weapon towers to slaughter the various "creeps".Ã,

But a word of warning: If you're supposed to have a productive day (such as work, errands, sleep, exercise, etc..) , it's best to avoid playing this game as, really, it's quite addictive.Ã,  ;DÃ,  Well, check it out if you dare.Ã,  Btw, I finally beat it (level 39 is the last level). How far can you get?
It's simple enough in concept, but devious in how addictive it is.

*Tip: When playing that game, press "Space Bar" to toggle on the creeps health bar.
Conan: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!"
Mongol General: "That is good."

Simple until I got to the last level. Never lost a single life, then I lost them all at once...

Putting all upgrades into interest.Ã,  I was raking it in until the 30's when even covering every tile wasn't nearly enough

I wasted a ton of time on this one day a few weeks ago.  Finally beat it.  The game may have been tweaked or more levels added since I played, but here's my general strategy guide:

You can get through the first seven levels using nothing but a few cannons.  Try to use as few as possible for each level so that you're left with as much money at the end of the level for interest.  After level seven, use your wood to research fire.  Then sell all your cannons and start building an array of fire towers in the middle of the map.  Don't bother upgrading for now, just build more and more.  Again, try to use as few as possible to maximize your interest.  Don't worry about killing bosses on the first round, if you have to sacrifice some life, it's fine.  Use the next two woods to buy extra interest.  Start raking in the cash because you really need it for the last few levels.  At level 28, use your wood to research water and start adding a few water towers spread out evenly throughout the level.  You might want to upgrade the waters a little to add more splash which is useful.  By the last few levels you need to spend like crazy and fill the map with fire towers.  Upgrade the central towers once or twice.  Before the last level starts, buy all the extra lives that you can afford since interest in meaningless and let the slaughter begin.

Fun game.

I'm using a quite different strategy. Basically, at the beginning, I build the same number of arrow and cannon towers somewhere in the upper left edge and upgrade them. I save some money, and at level 7 the first flame tower follows. With just building and upgrading three flame towers, you can surivive to level 21. From there on, just build rockets. I don't use water at all, until the last wave. Which is the only leaking one, too.

I played this for two rounds but I much prefer Desktop Tower Defense.  Similar concept, possibly same designer.

P.S.   Ah crap, I was under the impression this thread was still active.    Somebody bury me under this thread.

Wow really fun, like tower defense in Warcraft III.

I got to lvl 34, and I lost horribly. Thoe bosses did me in pretty good.

Got to level 20 without losing a life, then got toasted in one fatal swoop!

Addictive, yes.

Baron

I beat it!  It only goes to level 39, and my score apparently ranks 274th (within the last 5 hours, which is as long as records last.... :-\ ).  My secret?  Only a pair of maxed out (upgraded) cannons, fire towers as necessary to survive, and then cash everything in for combo towers from level 21 onwards.  Try to live on the edge so that your interest accrues, 'cause you have to spend a lot of money in levels 37-39 to stay alive.

     ......and now back to work.

Thanks Mr Colossal for showing me that there is already such a thread. Anyway I started us AGS score board at the http://www.handdrawngames.com/DesktopTD game. My highest so far is "Your score has been added to the database at position 3954 with 7106 points." on medium.
