AGS not in Google anymore

Monsieur OUXX

I used to visit the AGS website by typing "ags" in google.
Since 3 days, Google seems to have changed it's ranking system, and AGS doesn't appear in any of the 5 first answer pages. I have to type in "ags games" or "ags studio", etc.

I'll write a letter to Mr. Google to complain.  :)

AGS (adventuregamestudio.com) is actually the 5th entry in Google. Google has regional differences, so maybe the top page results for me here in the US are different from someone, say, in Latvia.
Just my £0.02.

EDIT: Also, Google has personalized search results based on search history. If you log in with a Gmail account you can get results that Google thinks are more likely to be what you're looking for.

In fact it came up as second match for me, as mentioned the ranking differs because of many factors (personal preference, regional settings, clicks, etc.) and in fact the acroynm AGS stands for so many things that I'll say the most popular meaning is quite possibly NOT our AGS, so it's not a real matter whether our AGS's page comes up first in google. If the page is not of the top 5 when you google 'Adventure Game Studio', then I'm really afraid.

It used to be the same for me, but several days ago a new feature appeared in "my" google (French google) : it proposes some "similar" searches (and shows a list of words associations like "ags backup", "ags gag", etc.). Since then, AGS disappeared from the answers unless I add another keyword to my search.

I thought you guys were talking about the Alliance for Global Sustainability.

Isn't that who we are, really?

Yeah, our AGS is 6th for me. Weird.

Yeah, google does all sorts of wierd clever stuff depending on various factors. AGS is the first result if you're in the UK, because of its .co.uk domain name. Elsewhere in the world, its position varies.

Buckethead

I'm in the Netherlands. But I have google set to search for UK web pages. That might help if you want to keep searching on ags

Akatosh

Not on the first few pages for the german google, as it seems. But Wikipedia is the second result, and it lists the real AGS (I think we can all agree on that definition  ;)), so...

Ishmael

If I go to google.com, which redirects to google.fi, and search for AGS, it's the first result.

If I just type "AGS" in the browser address bar, which redirects it as a Google AdSense or whatever search, adventuregamestudio.co.uk is the second result. I wonder which region or whatever this is for...
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

My results;
In google.com: It is the 2nd one. The first result is agsnet.com
In google.com.tr: It is the 2nd one again. The first result is www.ags.com.tr, a paraffin company (heh, they have a nice intro!). Also I wished the http://www.ags.com.tr/tr/dn/dn_r2_c2.jpg photo was more larger, AGS Games Factory.

That's funny. When I search for "AGS," my computer says, "Stop using the computer, you nerd."
The Bunker

ShadeJackrabbit

"ags studio"

So that would be... Adventure Game Studio Studio? A studio for making adventure game studios... that's just going too far.

How else do you think CJ could make AGS?
