Pretty things inspire. Some especially. Well I wrote my girlfriend this song. It's a solo-guitar piece, finger picking, the way I usually play. Goes in E-minor most of the time, not the c-part.

I recorded it in as usual with my headmic taped onto the guitar body, with Audacity on on go. So there is some small clicking here and there, also several mistakes, for I am no robot. BEEP! Not enough to bother me though. It's a bit quiet, but be patient with me, since I really like to play this, and I hope she likes it too. Anyway, please tell me what you think:

Really neat style. Spanish guitar with almost a Jamaican groove to it. I liked it. There doesn't seem to be an apparent melody. There's the building scale at the beginning of a "section" that feels like a melody, but it's not set in stone. There should be a base before some of these exploration solos, if you will. I loved the atmosphere this song gives. You should re-record it (If you can remember all of that! There's a lot to remember!) with two tracks, a rhythm guitar and a solo for some of those changes. Not that it sounds bad, but there's so much that could be improved by not letting the rhythm part slip up. It will make the solo sound more, uh, thought out? It'd be less like you were making it up on the spot from a scale.

well it was actually built on a chord progression. Then I usually build melodies to combine the progressions. I've got some salsa for 2 guitars with more dynamic rythms, this one I designed for one guitar only on purpose. So basically the whole thing is composed here, no improvisation this time really. Thanks for the crits though.

Also, I'm aware, that the guitar is WAY off tune. I guess I must do it again at some point. I could copy the sheets here too, for those who like to jam.  ;)

Sounds like it should be accompanying something...

Nice! With a little more practice this'll sound great! I would suggest writing lyrics, as this guitar part really sounds like it's backing up another instrument or voice.

Definitely add lyrics, especially if you wanna charm a girl. Playing some scales on a guitar is at best somewhat impressive (albeit still very ordinary), but you should aim to be personal and unique.
You don't want to show off with your instrumental skills, you want to deliver a message.

Hehe, well she liked it a lot. Even before I told it was for her. I might add lyrics, but personally I can't possibly sing them while I play, it's a bit too hard and I'm not that good a singer  :( Also, lyrics might end up too cheesy or too pushy in a way, so one really has to be careful if they're supposed to be personal.
