I'm considering starting an online business and it includes the people of this site.

I'm going to purchase a web site,
And offer to host a page for people's games here as in I will give a page to each person who wants one for free.
Heres how it will work,
You make a html document for your page i'll upload it and ill give you the link,
I only ask that you click on the google ads every now and then because that will be the only source of income and that you put a slide in the intro of you game saying "hosted on {whatever my site will be called}" along with the logo of my site.

All those interested please speak up as if I get no interest, you get no site as my parents will be paying for it intially.

Note there will be no contract, I will be doing this entirely out of my own kindness, so if I waste out of money the site will close and its not my fault so don't get angry at me. It will go for as long as I can afford it.

There's nothing wrong with hosting freewares, the problem is being seen amongst the multitude of sites already doing it, and generating enough clicks to get the money back.

Also, I highly doubt people will edit their intros just to include an ad to your site.
Nice initiative though.

That is an entirely ludicrous thing to ask. Simply for hosting (PM me), which they could get anywhere (PM me) if they looked carefully enough (PM me), they could find it without such an insane request (PM me).

I wouldn't ever consider altering my game's intro just to show a logo of the site which hosts my stuff. Not just because I have a server myself (PM me), but because hosting adds nothing to the game, and therefore has no place in it.

I'm a staunch believer of offering hosting (PM me) without any stupid tricks, and I deem this a stupid trick >_<

The google gestapo is quick to crack down on ad fraud, and if they see any indication of it, they won't hesitate to not only ban you from AdServe, but ban your site from their search engine. A clear indication of ad fraud is a bunch of people from the same IP's clicking on the same ads multiple times. Also, I'm pretty sure they calculate your fee by how many clicks from unique IP's there have been in the set time.

Check on that. Only uniques count, though they're reset every day (if I remember correctly). So if someone clicks once a day, that's income.

ahh well I did not intend to rely on the people I was hosting's clicks really the whole into thing was to get people to come to the site and browse through all the games of people I'm hosting for and then click the ads.

Sorry if the thing at the start of the intro was unreasonable but I dont intend to just host the file but essentially a webpage per game you have but since no one is interested I withdraw the offer- you gotta remember sites arent cheap.
It would only have been for the version you put on my site by the way, like the way newgrounds has a logo when ever you load stuff off their site.
Edit : it wouldnt be ad fraud if you didnt do it all the time and only did it when you saw something that interested you- I only meant don't avoid my ads for the sake of avoiding them.

ohh by the way on an un related note I have put my game SuRvIvAl on hold and am remaking my old game Zombie Nation- why try make a great game when you have a few skeletons in your closet (the old zombie nation) so I am remaking it using backgrounds constructed in Garry's mod with custom models from www.garrysmod.org and all will be editted with paint.net and gimp.
There will be a more coherent plot with full voice acting and most likely cinematics.
It will be 800 by 600 and true-colour.

This is quite normal, actually. If someone distributes your game, they want a version that includes their logo. It's the least they deserve, if they are putting work into marketing and promoting your game. I'm not sure how much work Tim plans on putting into marketing and promoting, but it's a normal business practice.

There's a line between distributing, or publishing, a game, and merely hosting it. For the former, it's reasonable to ask for a logo inclusion; for the latter, it isn't really.

I was going to host the game AND a website for the game that you would design yourself.
The logo was so that people would see the game and think there must be more good games like this back at {that site} ill check that out,
It would increase my traffic and give your games more exposure outside this community.

Asking people to click on your Google ads is against their rules. That's why I've only made 2.09 in the last 10 months or so.

Since posting my previous post yesterday and also my toxicsock.co.uk link in another thread my AdSense balance has gone from 2.09 to 4.21...

I feel well cheeky.. haha... thats 2 dollars in one day where it took 7 months (not 10) to get the first two dollars...

Haha.. oops.. goes to show it is worth it if you can get traffic though... as soon as I've got something to show for it I'll plug my site a bit more.. haha
