DAHCC Studios is proud to announce the development of L. Frank Baum's:
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

The Story:

"Dorothy lived in the midst of the great Kansas prairies . . . "

Prepare to embark on a spectacular adventure unlike any you have experienced before.  You begin as Dorothy, L. Frank Baum's brave heroine who sets out on a quest to seek the help of the Great and Terrible Wizard of Oz.  Along the way you'll earn the friendship of the most motley crew ever to set down the yellow brick road.  Together you will explore the magical Land of Oz and attain what each most desires.  But beware, the Land of Oz is a country that is sometimes pleasant and sometimes dark and terrible.  Accept help where you find it, for the road to the Wizard is not for the faint of heart.

I've finished working out a new verb coin GUI for the game.  The coding works, but unfortunately I haven't thought up any icons for the action options, instead I've used text.  Suggestions are welcome.  The PLAY command is used to switch between the four main characters to solve puzzles.  For example, if Dorothy doesn't have the ability to solve the puzzle, you can switch to (and play) the Scarecrow, Lion, or Tin Woodman.

Here's the new screenshot:

Hahaha. Oh my gosh, the trailer looks amazing.

The voice acting was OK, and I can't give much of an opinion on music, but it doens't look bad at all.

I'm especially fond of the Tinman design.

The game looks great, I take it is more inspired by the book series.

The art looks very nice. The teaser trailer was intriguing, though...I don't think that Glinda or the Wicked Witch's voices fit them very well. They remind me a bit too much of teenage Naruto voice-overs on YouTube. :-\

But other than that, I'm actually pretty interested in this game.

Quoting: "Yeehaw" Looking professional. It's not the critic lounge by the way and we've made our point about the voices.
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

I'm not exactly the biggest fan of wizard of oz....but I must admit this looks amazing and really professional. 2 thumbs up for you and your project!

Hey, guys.
Thanks so much for the comments and encouragement.  :)
Yes, this game is totally inspired by the original book, which is quite different from the movie that everyone is so familiar with.  There are many more characters.  For example, the witch that meets Dorothy in Munchkinland at the beginning, isn't Glinda.  She's a totally different "good witch".
Also, it's a much longer story with a number of other fun lands to visit.  (They are proving quite a challenge to design.)
But again, thanks!  I'll be keeping you all posted on its progress.
Cheers!

The saturation on the yellow-brick road is a bit high IMO. There also doesn't appear to be any anti-aliasing,

This is not the critics lounge, let's lay off the graphics ... if he wants advice on the graphics he can post in the CL.

Wow! This looks really good. Are you using the 3d Character plugin? I live in Kansas by the way.

DAHCC

Hey, thanks!
No.  I'm not using the 3d plugin.  I tried it, and I think the models I'm using are a little too complex for it.  Instead, everything is being shot in 3d, transferred in to sprites and played in the 2d fashion.  And the cutscenes will be 3d, but prerendered.

This is really good, love the graphics but I'm not too sure about the script (speech etc - not coding)  and the voice overs.
it might just be the trailer though.
Anyway, looks AMAZING

Wow I could never have imagined the Wizard of Oz as a game! I can't wait to see the finished product.
KPop and AGS....................that is my life.

I had actually at one point thought of making an Oz game based on the book so I'm happy to see that someone is doing it for me.  ;)
I could still work on the land of Oz I guess, heh...

Doing the same here. Our previous AGS project Vanilla Island ended up being ported to Realm Crafter so it is out of my hands but the new one I am doing with AGS 3.0 is doing the same as you described. I am using FRAPS and FPSC to generate the 3D... How about you?

In any case, it looks wonderful, Oz is perfect for adventure games as well as a really cool and fun universe with a great depth of stories, characters and incidents. Plus its own weird geography and physics! I hope to see you thrive and make the whole damned series into games... And in the process bring to life so many childhood friends! Especially the tin man and other animates. Faves of mine! :)
