When using ImageShack, you'll need to get the link from the very bottom that says "Direct", or use one of the linked thumbnails (marked as "Forum"). Here's the image:

Regarding the sprite itself, you've used some basic shapes to get the frame of the body going, but you should really consider adding more detail and spending a bit more time on it.

I'm not great with art myself, but I have found that if you actually slow down and take your time you can get better results. So that is definitely my first suggestion would be to take more time on your work.

My next suggestion would be to search the forums for art tutorials. Also search outside this site, but you may want to specify "low-res" there. The Internet has loads of examples of low resolution artwork, and a lot of tutorials on how to create your own. Try going over a few of these tutorials until you find one you're comfortable with, and work until you get results you're satisfied with.

Perhaps not the answer you wanted, but if you seriously want to improve your artwork, these are my suggestions.

It's also a good idea to follow the rules of human atonomy. Then you can get the proportions right and make your sprite look better already. Here are a few from the top of my head:

- the size of the body is 4 times the lenght of the head. 1 for the head, 1 for the torso and 2 for the legs and feet.

- The arms are twice the length of the head.

What rules?(I always ask then when someone mention "rules")
As far as the general proportion of the grown human, Im not sure if I missunderstod what you meant?
I drew a picture based on how I think you meant(but can be a missunderstanding, like I said).

While it looks great for a cartoon character, you mentioned the proportions of humans.
Myself prefer 7½ heads figure(example on the rightside of picture), while some likes 8head more.
If you really want to know the general proportions of human, google or try to get some good reference, I did this freehand and didnt actually recheck if it was right - so it was not to be used as and good example.

Cartoons, anything goes! it looks good if it looks good. :)
