Hello,

I'm going to need a fresh new portfolio site soon. But I'm pretty hopeless with making sites myself. So I was hoping someone could make it for me. So here's is what I would like:

I would like the site banner to be an image and the email a text I can change.
I would like 8 thumbnails.

You can give yourself gredit where it says "gredit". Then if possible I would like a login system where I can change the site content.

Then if you click the 2nd or the last button I want this page to show:

At this page I just want to add some images and some text. I also would like to have buttons on the top and the buttom to scroll between pages.

Dont worry about the graphics I will take care of that  :)

I hope I'm not too demanding here.

Thanks in advance!

Do you realize you're asking for a site that I (my company) would charge approximately 5,000 USD?

I don't think you're being too demanding, just a tad too hopeful maybe :)

I'm always, free-time permitting, willing to help out my fellow AGSers with a design or two but creating a content management system is a whole other bag of tricks!  The folk around here are quite giving so who knows, you might land somebody willing to do this for you.

Personally I'd recommend searching Google for an alternative.  I'm sure there are portfolio hosting sites out there that could fill your needs adequately.

Can't you use a template and tweak it a little? SmackJeeves, for example, has free templates including a simple content "browser" thingie- focussing on online comics.
Banner as an image is included already, and also thumbnail/image display.
I think you can alter those settings quite easily; even I could, and I'm a total loser when it comes to HTML.

I'd recommend using Wordpress (either hosted on wordpress.com or downloaded from wordpress.org and hosted on your own server). Although made for blogging it's a pretty powerful content management system, and there's tons of themes and plugins out there.  It takes a bit of work to set up, but once that's done adding new material is very easy.

Just google "wordpress portfolio" for examples and tutorials of how to use it for a portfolio site.

LGM just finished up his WordPress portfolio. It's basically the same thing you're after.

Or, you could use a pre-made script and customise it from there.

I found, downloaded and set this up in 15 mins. I spent the next 15 mins looking for pictures to upload. :P  The thumbnails are automatically generated, so they look pretty bad. This can be easily solved by uploading your own thumbnails into the thumbnail folder. The basic functionality is pretty close to what you're looking for. It just needs some tweaks in its design to be close to what you wanted. I'll PM you the login details and you can play around with it. If you like it I'll try to tweak it to look like your request.

Use a simple editor like Webpage Maker or Dreamweaver.

If you have a host that allows PHP and databases use a CMS such as drupal though, makes updates a breeze and can do anything you imagine.
