Is There a Guide to Creating a Game?

Hey, I've recently been considering making an Adventure Game. I found plenty of very useful guides to using AGS, but does anyone know of any guides to creating a game in general? By that I mean a guide to creating the scenery, plot, setting, characters (not the actual model but personality) and things like that. I have a pretty good idea of what I want to make a game about, if I make a game about it, but I'd like to go through as many steps as possible to make sure the plot it as well developed as possible.

There probably isn't one complete homogeneous guide, but I hope this will help:

Wow that was quick, I wasn't expecting anything till tomorrow. Thanks a lot, I'll give it a try.

Woah, Babar, you rule.
How come I never came across this before?

Thanks Stupot!

The basic text for it was taken (with permission) from one of Rodekill's old tutorials, but some sections (like music and programming) are not complete, so I haven't spread it around as much. If you know of any game-oriented music tutorials, or a good place on these forums I can link to for programming tutorials, I'd appreciate it.

Some other articles here, but some, like the all important puzzle theory, are not working at the moment :/

Yeah, but I was able to dig up the puzzle theory article on another site.

Also check out this thread for plenty of other articles on puzzle theory.

No tuts or guides, but the AT&C discussions on the Wiki are good reads (most of them).

you might consider playing couple of games too ;)

Also, I like to imagine how I could recreate certain puzzles and interactions from other games. Even though I don't bother to script anything in AGS, it helps me get in good mindset.
Then when I am scripting, I have multiple ideas on ways to script a problem or puzzle.
