Changing Cursors

How do you use the pick-up cursor in these games?  I have played so many and I can't figure out how to take things?

This is the wrong forum to post this in, really, but to answer your question (if I understand what you're asking correctly) you just right click until the cursor becomes a hand and then click on whatever you want to pick up (using the Sierra GUI), click "pick up" in your verb menu and then click the object (for a LucasArts GUI) or if the game uses the simpler form of GUI where right clicking examines and left clicking interacts, simply left click it. It's kind of a broad question considering the exact mechanics of picking up items are dependent on the type of GUI the game in question uses.
