Services spliting?

I was looking at the RAT and Offer your services thread, and I think that maybe they should be split into seperate threads for music, graphics, scripting, etc; so it would be easier to find what you need,. As it stans, listing throgh over ten pages IMO is quite tedious. Or am I just lazy? =D Note: RAT is only 2 pages long (just checked), but OYS is 'bout 12. (sorry for no line-breaks, Opera mini doesn't support them)

RAT is shorter because it was recently cleaned up and restarted. OYS has been on there for a much longer time and probably has a lot of outdated posts. And yes, you are just lazy, 13 pages really isn't that much, especially since most of the posts in OYS are quite brief. You really should just read the newest posts anyway.

There's no point in splitting it into separate threads for each category because as it is the thread isn't used that much. It would just clutter up the forums even more and make it all the more confusing. Note that the 13 pages in the thread have been slowly generated throughout the 5 years that it has been on these forums.

If people posted there more often then this might be useful but it's just not popular enough to benefit from this.

I generally just check the last 2 pages, and even then posts can be pretty old.

I'd say alot of the posts in OYS would be pretty useless if they are over 3 months old. Your best bet is just to look at the last 2 pages, or better yet, the Recruit a Team. People actively wanting to help out other people will most likely be checking the thread regularly.

Maybe some of the mods could split the OYS thread into an archive (anything over 3 months old) and a recent version. Or, perhaps you could just start reading from the bottom. Really, any OYS that isn't recent is highly unlikely to still be useful any more, because the person posting it may have found someone who took his offer, or may have run out of time for other reasons, or may not be looking at these forums any more.

Since someone has brought this up...
Recruit a Team should be trimmed a little.  The first post should definitely be Mods post: this one

I realize how it got messed up, but it really should be cleaned up.  I don't know how much control a moderator has over the order of posts, it could be easy or it could be hard.

Also Dual's post asking what the thread is about should really be deleted.  There are a few other posts that don't belong in there.
From what I gathered when this new thread was created, that once someone didn't need help anymore their thread would be deleted leaving no doubt.
