Looking good. I like the film noir style, good choice of colors and a cool atmosphere.

Looking forward to it.

When you're strung up by a man you shot between the eyes with a 38 revolver not 10 minutes earlier, you begin to wonder if, in this world, there is any reality to accompany the poetry.
I'm hooked.
This goes on my watch list!

Hi Calin!  Glad to see this is actually in production!  However, as part of the forum rules two IN-GAME screenshots are required (as cut scenes and title screens don't count!)  I'm not going to lock this yet, but please add another IN-GAME screen ASAP!

Good luck.

Duztie

Looks really great. Love the graphics. Can't wait to play the game when it's done. Thumbs up.

Find Therma

Looks great! Hope the writing style throughout the game maintains the quality of the writing demonstrated in the screenshots (particularly the top one). If it does then this could be awesome!  :)

Calin, this looks and sounds like it'll be a brilliant piece of fiction. Your writing, just from the screenshot, sounds geniously delicious. I can already tell that you know how to tell a story... and not just tell it.

One downside:
I can't play your demo. My monitor doesn't support 1280x960. I've tried both fullscreen and windowed mode.

Judging by the screenshots, you're making this in 320x240? So why on Earth is your game set at 1280x960 resolution? Please tell me you're not mixing and matching screen resolutions with your graphics... I wasn't even aware that AGS now supported that res (why in hell would it?).

Will it be possible for you to fix this? What is the meaning behind this rediculous choice in resolution?

Agreed!

Just run winsetup and change the graphics filter from 4x to 2x (or 1x). :=

Another note from the demo... the voice narration is pretty good. Enough to maintain the atmosphere, I'd say. The speech doesn't exactly match the text though, which is distracting. And "i" instead of "I" should be reserved for ee cummings poetry.

Thanks very much. The writing will be much like that through out the series.. Its all about the whole 'film noir' thing i'm trying to pull off.. lets see how well i manage it.

firstly if you expecting to 'play' the demo you will be disappointed :p It just the opening cutscenes which i may still rewrite due to certain clumsy writing.

However, the reason i have it at a silly resolution is that i have an LCD monitor which tends to screw up if you play at a non native resolution but as the poster above says all you have to do is change the graphics filter to none to get 320x200 (make sure you use the letter boxing option or it looks stretched).

Apologies again. This is essentially because I havent proof read it and I'm still getting to grips with AGS (this being my first attempt using it, i only downloaded it about a week ago) so my attention has been drawn to technical aspects rather than presentation. I do have some experience with programming in C though so I think I've picked it up fairly quickly.

You can consider The McCarthy Chronicles to be in a state of perpetual beta for the foreseeable future.. which is essentially an excuse for me to repeatedly fuck up.  ::)

I just wanna get more blue cups than Yahtzee....

Ubel

Just watched through the demo. Amazing writing and very atmospheric art AND the audio is good too. All in all I must say this is the most promising project I've seen in a while.

Jared

I'll be keeping an eye on this one - and I don't say that to all the developers!

Technocrat

You'd better finish this, it looks like something I'd like to play!

Thanks, Steve, I wish I had thought of trying that.

Calin - if you plan on keeping it this way, just make sure that you write about it in the manual so people that do not know will get the answer without having to post. Or before packaging, switch it back to what it should be at.

But anyway,
I love it so far. Nice voice acting (was it you?). I was a little put back at first, since I'm not a big fan of most voice acting in AGS games, but it grew on me rather quickly. The audio was great, it was leveled out nicely. As Steve said, I'm hooked. And I want more.

Heh, keep up the good work and you might just get them ;)

I 'm about to have a 6-cup. But stealing Leitor's Edge process was cut in the middle. Damn you Snake!!

6-cup? Explain please?

I assumed it was the amount of released titles, but Dualnames has a lot more than 6 (you have at least 4 lone cases)

<ProgZMax> I got an idea - I reached in my pocket and pulled out my Galen. <timofonic2> Maybe I'm a bit gay, enough for do multitask and being romantical

The only way to get 6-cup rating is to release Leitor's Edge! But damn Snake has it!!! Let's kill him!

It's a rating system but instead of stars there are cups.

Geez, okay Ninja. Anyway, on-topic this time, I find the game to be really interesting, and the writting ,even that one screenshot, seems excellent. I've yet to play the demo, but will do.
