Can't run AGS at all (SOLVED)

I'm starting to think that my real problem is that I'm using Windows XP with SP2 and that AGS will not obviously work in SP2 if it is only for SP1 but... Anyone managed to get it to work with the last Service Pack releases or even in Vista?

If not, then I'll wait for the next version to come. I'm just making sure that really there is nothing to do about it to run it before the next release  :'(

If I need to explain my problem, I installed the program normally with the defaults and all, and when I double click the executable, even for the Demo Game, nothing pops up at all, so, it doesn't loads.

Hope someone can give me the right directions for this (if there is a beta or patch for program for SP2 I'll be glad to know where, even if in beta testing).

Have you installed the .Net Framework 2.X? The editor now requires it to run (it's not required by the game engine). I'm not sure, but I think the framework requires SP2, so it should be okay.  Anyway, why not also update XP to SP3?

I do have Frameworks, up to 3.0 with the security updates and such:

And it is odd since the installer didn't prompted me to download the last version if I hadn't it updated it.

I do not update to SP3 because I don't need to (at least in this dev computer, which uses many programs that are uncompatible with SP3), and anyway, does AGS works with SP3 at all? *goes to try AGS in Windows 7*

Edit: Interestingly enough, it works perfectly fine with my RC copy (build 7100) of Windows 7. I'm now checking to fetch Frameworks 3.1 and to see if there is an update for the 2.x that I might lack in my main computer. If that works, I will not bother anymore with this topic.

I'm using a computer running XP SP3 both at work and at home, AGS works fine on both, the editor as well as every game so far.
Both have .NET 3.5 SP1 installed.

AGS definitely works with SP3, for me at least.

Can you clarify, does the editor run ok, but when you try to launch an actual game nothing happens?

Or does the editor itself fail to load?

Yes, it failed to load (as when you double click the executables and nothing happens at all, and this after installing the program itself).

Sorry for the late reply. I did a cleanup of all my .NET applications using a freeware ".NET Cleanup Tool" and reinstalled all the Frameworks from 1.1 to 3.5 (including their SP updates). Now AGS runs and loads properly, prompting me to the "new game wizard" and such on its first run. Simply I discovered that actually my 2.0 Framework installer got corrupted due to a patch my Windows automatically downloaded many months ago, making me to clean all the MSI and Frameworks and manually reinstalling them afresh from Microsoft's site.

So, yes, it works now in my Win-XP SP2. It was just a problem of my Frameworks' register in the end. Solved :) I apologize for any inconvenience I might have caused.

Yeah, I had some issues with the .NET framework too and couldn't use the editor for months (about two years ago)!
