Suggestions for facial structure of a RoN character

The sprites on the left are the 1st pass on the character, the four sprites on the right are the modifications that were passed back to me.  While I'm fine with the body & uniform, the face doesn't work.  The expression & facial structure come across as being too hesitant and "weak" which isn't right for the character.

I can't seem to find a visual layout that restores the confidence/experience of the character that doesn't revert to the original sprites, which might be a step backwards in graphical quality.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how the face/expression can be altered to make it "stronger" for lack of a better word.

Since I've already redesigned several RoN characters, I thought I might as well redesign this one for you in the same style.  I didn't change his appearance so much as adjust his anatomy and improve the color selection.  Now, I was laboring under the opinion (I might have been wrong) that this was a young boy or teenager so I scaled and designed him based off of that, and I think he turned out looking rather Willy Beamish-like (especially from the side) which I don't think is a bad thing.  If he's supposed to be an adult then his scale and everything will need more drastic adjustments, but I think this captures a confident boy pretty well.  I've included the other characters I've done so far so you can see the style similarities.

Nice sprite work as always.  It's admittedly strange to see Davy is something with actual colour and great job with Frank.  I'm sure DC will be overjoyed with him.

With regards to Leon, he is an adult.  Early-mid twenties and has been a police constable for a few years, hence the uniform.

If you ever do redesign Leon, I'd say keep the head for another younger character.  It's too good to waste.  With a different costume, hair style & colour, and a size change, the face would be ideal for Simon as the face is bright, friendly and cheerful.

Based on these, I'll see if I can't come up with something for the krysis-style version of the character.

Ah, okay.  I wasn't sure what I was looking at age wise, but I think your new version is a step in the right direction.
