Hi I started playing with pixels to create sprites like you know them from the early 90´s games.
As a matter of fact I started 2 days ago so here are my results that I achieved in this 2 days.

This one was a test how to draw with pixels. I had some ideas of a little adventure with young master Yoda as the Hero. So this is my first draft of young yoda.

The other sprite I made is Yoda, too but 800 years later.

So what do you think about this piece of work?

The first one's head is a bit awkward... it's like someone chopped of the upper part of his head and painted his brain green.

Basti

Yes, I see your point. Maybe I will overwork it in the nearly future. Maybe I should only use another colour for this crinkles.

Brentimous

Had some time to kill, so I thought I'd give Young Yoda a shot. He looks like he's about to dodge a bullet Matrix-style, but I blame that entirely on the puppeteer. I like the face of your old Yoda.

Pixel art is about placing every pixel, not drawing lines, then filling the areas.
Your second sprite is much closer to what I consider actual pixel art. It has more refined lines and detail.
However, both sprites have double pixels on the lines and lack shading.

Stick to one of the sprites and start refining it.
It's not a bad start though, keep practicing.

IndieBoy

I like the second one more, but keep going. Also avoid using the black outline. With Pixel art it's too small for the cartoon like black outlines to work normally, so change them to a darker colour of the filled area it is defining, and try to work on some shading. It's all down to practise, but good luck, looks good for a starting point.

The only person in favour of the mobs seems to be IndieBoy.. but he's scottish so we dont listen to him anyway.

Thanks for your feedback. Shading is a problem of mine, I guess. Can anyone show me a link that teachs shading?

Now I tried to transform young master Yoda into Fate of Atlantis style but I think he looks  a bit strange...

Babar

I wouldn't really know either way, but I'd have though that Yoda's wrinkles were a result of his extreme old age. So wouldn't a young yoda (in the prime of life) have no wrinkles?

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

Yes thats true, i will change it soon. By the way here is my result of shading the Master Yoda sprite

I thought, maybe I could try to make a little Yoda Adventure Game. So I started "drawing" a Yoda Sprite for this possible game. It should be some Fate of Atlantis style but I think its a bit more modern.
The Story would be when Yoda arrives on Dagobah so Yoda has no lightsaber anymore....
So what do you think about this sprite?

Looks very cute, Basti!  What I would recommend is you take a look at some yoda references and focus on cleaning up some of the double pixels in your images, like so:

1.  Looked at a statue of yoda as a reference and adjusted the face and ear: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3187/2970854766_317385d256.jpg?v=0

2.  Cleaned up the pixels and added some shading by reusing colors.

Try using the image reference I posted and see if you get better results!

Thats one of my first screenshots of a Yoda-Adventure I´m working on.
