Hi there everyone! Im new on this community but Im certainly not new to AGS haha!

My names Jake Jackson, and Im now 19 xD

Well I wanted to post a game for the AGS game list which I completed many years ago (back in year 10 in high school LOL). I always wanted to post it back then but I never had enough bandwith or hosting space let alone a decent internet connection. Since then I set up my own software site so I moved on since then.

Well anyway the game is called The Mysteries of Stiego Moors, about a paranormal investigator who is called to the county of Stiego in Ireland after some murders take place with suspicious circumstances.

You have to solve the riddles of what goes on in the village to progress, and in some parts it can take some really scary paths haha! It is sure to suprise you, so its well worth a go, especially for all my hard efforts.

Volume 2 + 3 was planned when I was working on the game, but my life took a different direction so it was scrapped. Unless some of the AGS community would like to create a spin off that would be Ok, the basic storyline of the next two games is in the TXT file included with game.

It took me about 5-6 months to complete the game, since I was still learning AGS (The old one btw, not the one that is based on .NET framework, LOL the one with the easter eggs in it where it said i couldnt use it for the whole day for it being christmas, i thought that was really clever Chris haha)

Screenshots of the game

You can download the game from http://www.elementsoftware.co.uk/dev/jakejackson/stiegomoors/

Or directly :

No speech version (45MB) : http://www.elementsoftware.co.uk/dev/jakejackson/stiegomoors/TMOSM_NoSpeech_AGS.zip

With speech (81MB): http://www.elementsoftware.co.uk/dev/jakejackson/stiegomoors/TMOSM_Full.zip

Id be really happy to hear comments about this one when you all play it since I was pretty much going to leave it but it would be nice to see it on the AGS archive ;)

I thank very much to Chris Jones for the awesome AGS which is so inspiring, The RON community for some of the sprites and the creator of the SnowRain plugin, which rocked.

Many thanks!

I don't know if I am missing something here but
Spoiler
I am at the stage where there is the bucket of water. It lets me pick it up but my inventory was already full and there is no button to scroll through my inventory so I can't tell if I got it or not. Also when I walk off screen and then back, the bucket is there again. And when my guy walks back into the room with the mirror, he acts like this is the first time he's seen it..

Am I missing something about this or is it a bug?

Edit- Never mind, I figured out what to do next. This game has some bugs which I can point out later and was confusing me on what do do next.

Leon

This game is quite confusing...

To start.. there is no setup with your game?  And the manual is missing the 'home' page and an image in the mainmenu.html

The title screen also seems messed up. I see a small letterbox window in the middle with trees and above that in black repeated vertical dots.. as if the image wasn't compiled right and some bits (0's & 1's) were missing..

Right after starting, I leave the hotel and have no clue what to do. There's little interaction with objects and the screen outside seems put together (hotel and general store), but not seamless, as if it's cut. Nothing to do here. Then all of a sudden a taxi shows up and takes me to a desolate place and I say I need to go to my hotel and get some sleep... That's what I just left?!?!

The perspective is also not quite right. I walk into the alley where the cars get smaller, but I stay the same size? I don't get the feeling of walking into an alley, just against a miniature car. I can walk straight through the lamppost, don't have to go around.

I think the game has potential with some adjustments and way more interaction but right now it's only sitting and waiting..

I'll see if I can finish it though 'cause the story is good. The sounds and music are also adding to it... it's just the non-interactivity...

There was a setup before I but I didnt think of including it since some people dont like setup programs (i.e you dont know what its going to install with the game)

The start can be slow im afraid, but it gets much better later on in the game (the start in the game was put in much later, so some of the action is missing a bit here).

No, you are going from the hotel in the city to the hotel in the village. Sorry that wasnt clear, the beggining can be a bit confusing. Promise though that it gets more involved later on in the story.

If i get time, and im not too busy, it would even be good to completely remake the game depending on players opinions.

Leon wasn't referring to an installer but to AGS's winsetup.exe, where the player can e.g. set the game to windowed mode or change the graphics driver.
The setup is also missing from the other game you've posted.
It's not that big a deal though because all one needs to do is open the exe with the parameter "--setup" and the default setting of 640x480@full screen should work for everybody anyway, but still, why leave it out?

Patternjake

Wow sorry, i always changed it using the cfg file! xD
Totally forgot to include that. I think you can use the same winsetup.exe from other games as well though. Ill upload the configurator for it as well to the site.

Leon

Nope, that's just the point.

The winsetup.exe is looking for that specific game. It's compiled together with the game. If you rename the game after compiling, the setup won't work anymore. Of course you can edit the cfg file manually or run "mystery.exe --setup" to get similar results but still... I noticed the file was missing.

Zargblast

Has this game been beta-tested?

I've come across numerous bugs.

Also the text clearly hasn't been proofread - they're are far too many spelling mistakes to list here.

Nice backgrounds, but the RON characters really don't work in this setting.

And the game is supposed to be set in Ireland, right? Well, it's the strangest version of Ireland I've ever seen and I live there!

xD

This game was developed at a time when I didnt have much access to the internet, things were a bit limited then LOL
It would be nice to completely remake this game if I got the time ;)

Cogliostro

I downloaded and tried both the Speech and No_Speech version.  Neither of them have the setup file and both of them cause the error - OUT OF RANGE - Which is an error being generated by the monitor and not Windows, AGS or my video card.

Any chance you can get the SETUP file out there so I can try to work around this?
