Hi guys. My graphics tablet is dying and I really need to get a new one. I've got  an Intuos 1 at the moment, I really like the Intuos 4 but I think they're a little out of my price range. Id really like one that has one to one tablet-to-screen mapping.

Could you suggest one I could buy?

Can't really help you, sorry, this might be a useless post, but:

I can't get my Volito 2 work properly on my Vista, it moves half a second behind my hand. How come?

@ Sookie:
1. may I ask how long you've had this tablet, I'm looking to buy a wacom and just wondering about the longevity of the thing?
2. you do know there are various sizes of Intuos, cause large is about 200 bucks cheaper than XL, if you don't have the money, then get a bit cheaper modle and learn to survive like others have

@ Tuomas:
Drivers (although I can't even see the page site for that model on Wacom)? Maybe all the software is making the pc slow? ...really wouldn't know, you probably tried that already.

I was just about to buy a tablet and now they changed models, it's not much more expensive, but it's annoying a bit. Seems only Bamboo pen and touch is in my league. Btw prices here are just ridiculous, about 20-30 bucks higher than anywhere else and get this - for some reason the company that does the distribution for my country has higher wholesale prices than another store has in retail...stupid country.  ::)
I don't want the world, I just want your half

Tuomas: Wacom tablets are known to have that pen lag problem on Vista. My husband's Genius tablet lags quite badly on his Vista desktop as well. Googling seems to indicate that some people have solved the problem by rolling back to an older version of the driver. Maybe you can try that as well.

SookieSock: what size tablet are you looking at? There've been a few threads discussing tablets in the past; maybe you could look at those for suggestions. Here's one such thread to get you started.

Anian: Wacoms can last pretty long, depending. My first Wacom (Intuos2) lasted about three years. This current one of mine (Intuos4) has been around for just as long, and shows no sign of winding down, fingers crossed. My husband's Graphire3 lasted about two years.

I got myself a Bamboo. It's small, neat and works fine (on Vista.) Currently collecting dust in a drawer when I found out I am not so good at art.

Well ive had my wacom for 5 years and it was second hand when I brought it and its only just  starting to act a bit odd (I think its something to do with the pressure sensitivity) I really wanted a A4 one like the one i have now, I just find that size easer to use.

Does any one know the benefits of getting a more expensive tablet over a cheap one and are they really worth the extra cost?

From my very very limited knowledge I would assume: More levels of pressure sensitivity.
