Questionable

Prog, did you photoshop that color change, or is that your work? ...doesn't look like your style but I'm curious.
All my trophies have disappeared... FINALLY! I'm free!

I did shift the hue as well as the brigthness and saturation while picking my colours, but maybe not enough. I'll definitely try to change that and see how it looks.

As for the edit of the stonehead, the grass looks far less dry without the hie shifting, doesn't it? I personnally think the grass looks pretty good like that as well (not the stone, though. Making it go towards blue was definitely a good choice), it just doesn't convey the same mood as the original.

I'll sit on that sprite for a while and probably come back later with an updated version. I'm making some faces NES-style for a friend. Khris would love it, I'm using about 7 colours per drawing. :p

Questionable: Photoshop what, the example image Khris posted?  No, I just picked pure color ramps to show the difference between effective color mixing and not.  I didn't make that head/deer image, though my approach to selecting colors would be very close to how the original was done.

Lufia:  if you associate the yellow of the grass with it's natural color rather than the effect of a sun light source then yeah, it would appear that the grass is 'withering' in parts and greener in others.  You don't have to shift as far as the example did to yellow, but the solid greens don't look accurate either.  If the pure green ramps are more visually pleasing to you, though, that's another story!  :).
