Oh and BTW please, let someone make sure there's toiletpaper when we get thereSo it's not like in the chateau.

rWhich brings me tot hisquestion: theree are shops in the vicinity of the vills, aren't there?

AGA

There are shops in the same town as the villa, yes. Exactly how close they are, I'm not sure. But we'll have plenty of cars, so it won't be a problem.

cat

So, how does this work with food and stuff - will it be bought for all and then the costs are divided, or does everyone buy his own food?
Are there any cachmachines around the villa?

m0ds

Yeah I would go with a per person thing in mind rather than group catering for now, these things are never planned beforehand and generally people end up doing what they want, but I'm sure there will be going to a restaraunt & BBQ etc.

I think this year though we should perhaps set up a wee fund to cover milk, cereals, sugar etc, but its no point discussing that sort of thing til we're there really.

I'm not sure there's a cash point near the villa, but there may be one in Foiano. However, as you're Italian, I'm sure you'll have no problem discussing these things with the villa people who will be around certainly on the saturday.

cat

Well, I'm not Italian, but I can ask the people none the less  ;)

Oh, my bad, where are you from? So that means just one Italian going then. I don't even know how to say hello yet! I'm such a bad tourist.

My girlfriend speaks decent Italian, for what it's worth. Plus bicilotti being a native, I'm sure we'll cope.

Chrille

I've seen enough of La Piovra, the Octopus, to get by I think :P

I took a year and a half of Italian in college, though that was almost 6 years ago.  Still, I think I can contribute to the communication if need arises.

I'm trying to get the the information together for getting from Arezzo to the villa. Getting to Arezzo should not be a problem because the route is operated by the national railway. However, from Arezzo to Lucignano there is a private railway organisation. http://www.trasportoferroviariotoscano.it/servizi_orari.asp

The timetable is here http://www.trasportoferroviariotoscano.it/orari/%20Loc.50x70%20AR-SINALUNGA%2006-2010.pdf and it seems that there are several trains a day.

I still have to figure out if this trains departs from the same train station as the other trains from Milano or Firenze arrive but I do think so.

Is anyone interested in joining me in Arezzo and going together to Lucignano? Maybe we could share a taxi there. I also do speak a little Italian, so this may help.

Who else is going by train and who by car anyway?

Chrille

That's great information, cat. I was looking for something like that.

If you're taking a taxi to Lucignano, why not just take it all the way to the villa? The villa website suggests getting there by taking a taxi from Arezzo. I wonder how much it's going to cost. Seems like half an hour ride or so.

Actually I was thinking about a taxi from the trainstation Lucignano to the villa, but a taxi from arezzo might be a reasonable solution if we are enough people. The train doesn't seem to be expensive though.

I will most likely do some sightseeing in Arezzo before going to the villa so I'm very flexible related to train departures.
