and it gives the guard a reason to carry a blueprint for a rattrap around

Use the tiny brain to get some control of the body. Pick up the marmalade from the table, followed by the bowl of sugar. That should be enough for the tooth rotter.

How do I get the key from the monkey? I can't use the sword on the tent because the demon hunter has it. And when I tried to use it earlier when I did have it, it wouldn't work.

You need the sword first before you can get the monkey.

To take the sword:

Wear the pink slippers before entering the cave.

You need to prove that you've taken the sword back 'by force', so let the guy think there was a fight.

Take the frying pan and the pipe and use them on each other near the opening to the tunnel.

But I did all that. And after I went back in the cave he took the sword back. I tried to use the sword on the tent before I went back in the tunnel but nothing happened.

Enter the tent again and go into the tunnel. Walk all the way to the right and tell the DemonHunter about the monkey. Ask him for advice and then ask him to borrow his SWORD.
