Hello I'm very new and these are 2 noob questions. How do I set where the player start? Right now he's in the top-left and there isn't a walkable area, also how do I do fades? I want it to start black show some credit images then it fades to the scene. ???

You can set the player start (x, y) positions  in the same place where you set the views, starting room and such for the character.

And for the credit text fades I would have made it a separate room where the character is set to not visible, and just show the texts. (And change the characters starting room to that room instead.)

Or if the changing room fade is too fast, you can use FadeOut() (Look in manual, as fadeout has a parameter) in the credits room, then change to starting room, then FadeIn() (again, look in manual due to parameters).

Where is the place where I can set his start location, sorry I'm very new and have no idea what I'm doing? :'(

Assuming you're using AGS 3+, go to the characters pane in the menu. Open it and double-click on the player character to open his details. In the window below there will be a whole lot of options. Scroll down/up untill you see "Design". The bottom 3 options (before movement) will be: Starting room, Start X and Start Y.
Starting room is the room number he will start in, x is the  horizontal position across the screen, all the way left being 0, y is the vertical position across the screen, all the way at the top being 0.

I'm pretty new myself given that I don't have the time to get into AGS proper right now :'(, but might I also suggest having a look at Densming's fantastic How to Use AGS video tutorial series or the draft version of his AGS book* to get you started. Of course, the tutorial in the manual helps too ;)

*It's not out yet, is it? Or have I completely missed it? I haven't heard anything else about it and I haven't seen it on Lulu yet=S
