Firefox Add-ons: Need Help

So I just installed Firefox 3.6.9 from the Mozilla web page. For some reason, none of the add-ons are working. I've tried installing several (including a few that work on my other computer), but they just won't work. They show up in my add-ons tab, but they can't be used. For example, Net Videohunter is supposed to display a small blue icon in the bottom right corner. I've also noticed that neither the AVG toolbar or link scanner are working.

Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks.

To all those who are about to post "Opera. [/thread]" STFU and GTFO of my internet.

Opera is an ugly, horrible browser that should not be used under any circumstances other than the possible misfortune that you're stuck in Windows 98 and haven't yet located a working link for Firefox 2.

Are you certain that the extensions you're installing are compatible? Some of the more recent versions of Firefox have been changing features that have been breaking extensions for various reasons (most of them are usually updated shortly thereafter). I'm using several extensions that are working fine in the latest Firefox. What extensions are you using?

Even with the smiley, why are you bashing other browsers tastelessly?

So far not a single person has commented on this and has promoted another browser and they shouldn't have to since this is off-topic. The OP just wants to know how to get stuff to work in FireFox. As long as someone can help him solve the problem that's okay already. If someone just tells him to use another browser it is out of the point and inappropriate. But if someone else bashes other people for potentially doing this (when no one has really done that) and remarks that FF is the ultimate browser that's just going too far.

By which I mean I support putting an end to terrorist browsers like IE and Opera.

Everytime somebody posts about Firefox somebody invariably comes along and says to use Opera. I was just jumping the shark.

Well done monkey, you pulled Al out of his cage. OPERA SUCKS btw. Actually all browsers suck. Except for mine. And you can't have it. On a serious note, I've seen Opera as my brother is using it for offline pages, and it seems standard. I've used Firefox and Chrome, with firefox having the advantage of being more in the style I want to customize him, and Chrome being a little faster and crashing none.

I must say that I DO prefer Chrome. It is by far my browser of choice. Anyway, back on topic. I'm really only trying to use firefox for Net Videohunter. It seems capable of downloading flv's and mp3's from just about any site (even those that are unknown). The way I see it, I have two choices. I can get Net Videohunter working in Firefox, or I can find an extension that works just as well for Chrome.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think such an extension exists for Chrome yet, but it's been a while I searched for one

What you could try is test it with firefox portal first. I use it to run plugins that Chrome not yet supports.

I've tested it with 2 other versions of Firefox. It's definitely not a compatibility issue.

That's a really weird issue, especially with the portable edition since it is supposed to be computer independent.
Maybe the version of firefox you are using is newer then the add-ons, that could cause problems. Other then that I have no clue.

What I meant is that I've tried using several older versions of Firefox. I haven't tried Firefox portable. When I said compatibility issue, I was referring to the add-ons compatibility with different versions of Firefox.

I was instructed on MyCE to create a new profile. I'm not sure what it did, but everything works now. Thanks you all for your help!

Opera Mini is pretty awesome when you're stuck with GPRS and no 3G...

In other news, there's a Firefox compatibility helper add-on which turns off the compatibility checking in all the toher plugins if you want.
