Ok I'm sorry for posting this here, but I have been doing a few google searches and nothing has given me as solution. My problem is that after I press a key on my keyboard there is a 1-2 second delay for my mouse to be active again, basically my mouse lags. Normally you don't notice it, but when I play a game where I need to use the keyboard and the mouse together it is near impossible to play. It is a new laptop with windows 7 so I dunno if it is some kind of new settings or something, but I've played with everything and nothing has worked. So anyone have any suggestions?

This is a setting that stops your thumb hitting the track pad whilst you type... or rather it stops the track pad interfering when you are typing.

I dont know how to disable it though...

I'm not aware of any settings in Windows for that (doesn't mean they don't exist though) so my guess would be it's a setting in the drivers for the touchpad. Open device manager (stick it into the search box on the Windows 7 start bar) and view the properties on any mice or touchpad devices you have and see if there's any additional settings you can change. If that doesn't work find the latest drivers for the touchpad (Dell, Sony etc have specific drivers for each of their computers on their website to download) and install them. I know for a lot of Dell laptops there's an optional driver download for the touchpad which installs a program to let you do things like turn off the pointing stick.

Tuomas

I'd sure like to have that option too. It irks me, when the cursor jumps to places while I try to write an essay or anything. All I could do so far was to move the mouse away from the screen. That, or disable tapping :)

Mr Flibble

My friend had this problem with his laptop, it's a "feature" you can turn off, but I don't remember how he did it.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

How about you get a REAL MOUSE? They cost 1$ nowadays. Some are even free. Unless of course you want to impress the ladies and take the laptop on your laps. Cause then you look so cool. COOL. COOLER THAN NEMO. Yes, THAT cool.

I'm adequate with a trackpad. I've used many laptops.

Dualnames, I own a wireless mouse and it still has the same problem...
I've looked through all my settings and updated the drivers and still the same issue. I don't understand why Dell thought it was a good idea to make this as standard on my latop.

Inspiron 1764, does that help?

Have you installed this driver? If you haven't, install that and see if you still have a problem after a reboot.

If you're still having issues try changing some settings. You should have a new touchpad icon in the notification area (by the clock) - double click that to open the touchpad settings. If that icon isn't there browse to C:\dell\drivers\R275830\ then either Vi32 or Vi64 (depending on whether you're running 32 or 64 bit Windows 7) and run the DellTPad program. Have a look through the settings there, I've got a Latitude rather than an Inspiron so mine might be different, but the most obvious option is TouchCheck. Still, I've got that set to the middle setting and enabled, and I've never had a problem.

I just disabled the touchcheck and it is working fine now. I'm sure I was playing with all the sliders before, but I never noticed the enable/disable check box. Cheers mate  ;D
