...but still, they offer ~5 hours of gameplay(and cutscenes) together

Yes, that's right. There are 5 hours of gameplay and cutscenes together. That's true. I couldn't find the gameplay yet, but there are definitely at least 5 hours of cutscenes.

We all have to pay for free games. We pay (life)time and we pay money.

When are you going to reimburse me for the (life)time I've wasted reading your posts?

I second this. Seriously you didn't like the game, let those who want to play it do so. And damn you brought Vel out of the chambers of darkness!
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

I have yet to try both the first episodes and just not sure if I wants to try them.
The game looks well polished but I am no big fan of the Kings Quest series as it is.

@KQIX-Team
Without the silver lining there wouldent be your King's Quest IX: The Silver Lining remake would there?
(Which I would rather play to be honest if it really is for real and no joke to take the piss off the team behind The Silver Lining)

Also how can the so called "internet hours" it took you to download the episode cost you anything?
Unless your on a modem or for any reason pay per mb you download I don't see how this could of cost you anything.
Do you just sit and watch your downloads when you download?

I pay per minute â€" just like most people.

I don't regret anything... except that. Sorry, that wasn't my intention.

I thought most people these days paid a flat monthly fee - surely it's not just in the UK that this is the standard?

Most people on earth don't even have internet.

And a lot of them don't have brains, but lets not stray from the conversation too much.

I wasn't aware of that, thanks for sharing.

On a serious note, don't you think wasting hours and hours posting pointless threads and antagonizing people on various forums is just adding insult to injury? Is your time not more precious than this, KQIX-team?

Or what is your idea with all this, that the game will suddenly just disappear, you will be given back the (life)time you've spent playing it, and everyone will apologize to you and say "you were right all the time, KQIX-Team!!"

And yeah, pretty much all of the industrialized world has stopped paying internet per minute, but that's beside the point, really.
Either way, it's probably time for you to move on and do something more fruitful with your time. For your own sake.

Radiant

So anyway. Has anyone of the bigbluecup regulars seen or played this episode, and what do they think of it?

Intense Degree

I finished episode 2 this morning.

On the whole it's much better than episode one, containing (in my opinion at least) puzzles and gameplay, which ep 1 didn't have.

Personally, as a KQ fan, and particularly KQ6, i've really enjoyed re-visiting the land of the green isles and I still remain impressed with the graphics and general production standards given that this is a free fan made game.

I'll admit that if you've never played KQ, or didn't like the games, this game probably won't be as interesting to you as the nostalgia element simply won't be there, but I think we're beginning to see the start of an interesting story and I look forward to see how it progresses.

Certainly there are things that aren't so good, the narrator and some of the dialogue continue to annoy a bit and the puzzles haven't exactly been earth-shatteringly brilliant, but on the whole it is keeping my interest well. Maybe not up to the standards of a professionally produced game, but comparatively very well done so far. The number of animations (if not always the quality) and the cut-scenes deserve special mention for an indie game.

On the length, it should be remembered that the game was initially meant to be much longer, but was subsequently split into 3 parts and then whittled down even further, so I for one am not suprised it hasn't yet provided 60+ hours of gameplay.

So, in summary I was intrigued after ep. 1 and more interested after ep. 2. It's not been "teh bezt gaem evar" so far but I'm hopeful it will continue to improve over the next 3 installments.

TerranRich

Pretty much what Intense Degree said, is what I thought of TSL. A great game overall (so far), and I definitely am looking forward to Episode 3, which by all counts, should be out in the next month or so. It's free, so I can't judge it against how much I "paid" for it (even in the Internet "time" currency KQIX-Team supposedly invests in), but for a free game, it was damn good.

Also, KQIX-Team, it is NOT true that "most people" pay per minute of Internet service. Maybe 10-15 years ago, sure, but hardly anybody today.
Status: Trying to come up with some ideas...

CaptainD

In terms of the gameplay I wouldn't rate it more than average to be honest (not that it's bad), but the depth of the characters and backstory is really impressive.  I'm one of those who found the narrator really grating on my nerves, so the option to turn off the voice was helpful.  Graphics I found rather variable, but definitely impressive in places.

Blackthorne

Really?  I found the graphics and art to be great, but I find the story cliched, contrived and shallow.

I continue to be underwhelmed, but that's par for the course for me. It's no worse than 75% of current commercial adventures.

Okay, with five so very different opinions on this game, I really have no choice but to download it and check it out.

Now where did I leave that spare time of mine?

I'm still playing it (meaning I took a long break).

I really love the game world, but the quests, story and puzzles feel rather artificial and boring.

The element that really makes me come back, however, is... the wonderful narrator who makes fun of everything. :D
