Feelin' creative today. Here's another background (90% complete) for your enjoymet Cianty! Thanks for keeping an eye on this thread all the time!

Oh, I love to! I really like your style as to me they do a great job of transporting a strong and unique atmosphere.

That new background looks pretty cool. You really have a lot going on in all those backgrounds so I expect there will be a lot of stuff to explore and interact with. I like that. :)

A little status update now:

As I've worked for the last month on a game for the february MAGS, I've noticed first-hand how having poor design documentation makes creating a good game a LOT harder (oh the horror of re-writing the same script ten times because you realize you misused a function and / or variable several times).
For this reason I am putting this project on a (hopefully) short hold, as I'm going to re-write most of the design documents, write a proper script and puzzle design documentation (that I've not had outside of my head so far) and probably re-write most of the existing code for the game, to better implement some of the newfangled tricks I've leadned while working on the MAGS project (There is a Game.DoOnceOnly -script!? WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED!?).

I'm also planning to chop the project into pieces and set actual deadlines for each section, to better motivate myself to keep the project properly going. There is also a chance I will try to hire outside help to create parts of the game with me at some point, to ease off the workload of creating a massive over 100 room game with randomly generated content and action sequences, as well as minigames.

As a result I'm hoping to be able to speed up the process so that the game will have a chance to see a late 2011 or early 2012 release, instead of "Maybe some day when its done I guess" -release date.

Let's get this show on the road, people!

I'll put this in the game's own thread as well, as many people might not see this in the recruit a team -thread (copy-paste ensues):

WHAMGAMES is looking for a developement team for Infection - Episode II - The Station, which I am rebooting as a project due to previous version's poor documentation, issues with design and the fact that woking alone on such a large game is simply impossible.

If any of the three roles mentioned below interest you, send me an e-main to wham@whamgames.com and we can talk and see if our interests meet.

The game we are talking about is pretty big (over a hundred rooms), will feature randomly generated content, many characters, many puzzles and a large portion of action oriented content and resource management.

Types of people required:

> Sprite artist
I already have basic walkcycles and standing frames for most characters done. This job would mostly consist of re-skinning existing walkcycles to create new variations of existing characters (differently coloured or detailed uniforms, for example). I will also need some new and fairly difficult unique animations, so if you're up for some challenges, this is for you. I am NOT asking you to do things alone for me, I am asking for you to at least actively participate with either drawing the graphics or experienced critique and ideas on how to improve graphics without creating a massive workload.

> Background artist
I have a good number of (mostly) ready backgrounds. If you are interested in enhancing existing work, critiquing my work and perhaps contributing with variations of existing backgrounds and even some new art, this could be for you.

And lastly, the most important role
> Design assistant

I need someone to go through the game's design documents as I create them, provide critique, new ideas and improvements. I don't need help with the story, of that I already have a good idea and the script is forming all the time. What I really need is someone to help me work with implementing some non-adventure gameplay mechanics so that they work as seamlessly as possible with the game's other aspects.

If you are interested in this part you MUST have completed at least one AGS game before, or at least participated in a game in a constructive way.

Redesign took off properly in the last few days. Game design documents are taking better shape and I used last night to re-draw over 100 sprites worth of door animations. I also decided to re-design the cool map I had for the game with a few new and improved ideas, and then the really coold stuff:

Infection 2 will have achievements! Since achievements seem to be all the craze nowadays (minecraft is likely to have them in the 1.5 update), I decided to have them in Infection as well!

Will try to post more, and am looking forward to getting a new website up for this project soon. Had some outside help, so it might be a bit more manageable this time around.
