Its your life!
A life simulation game that lets you interact with the objects around you. You''ll start life having just flown the nest from Spain and arrived in Westfield to join your Uncle.

Its up to you how you choose to play the game will your character live the normal "9-5" life working their way
from the bottom of the career ladder to the top? Or will they prefer a life on the streets?

So what can you do in this game?

Get a job and go to work!

You can get jobs and take your character to work where you can control what he does while he's there or if he
even goes at all. Bear in mind that you've got to be skilled enough to actually get the job you want. Fear not
as you can study to make sure your the right man for the job.

Rent flats!
You can rent flats in Westfield from the run down ones to the swanky modern one which come at a price. Don't let your wage put you off getting the place you want though as cutting back on your nights out and other enjoyable activities would see you still
have enough money to get the property of your dreams.

Socialise and fall in love!

You can talk to all the characters in the game and find things out about them. Some may even want you to run errands for them. You can meet women and begin dating. Treat them good and they'll be yours forever, treat them bad and they will leave you and you can even leave them heartbreaker!</p>

Go to different locations and have fun!

All locations in the game can be visited and interacted with. Go to nightclub and party the night away, visit the doctors the next day to cure that hang over then show up fresh at church for a religous ceremony to make you feel that bit
better.

There is much more in the game what we want you to discover so we won't spoil it by telling you everything now. Enjoy!

Not my kind of "life game". I'm waiting for one where I can be a woman and have a career as a painter or a musician.

First thought: $30 is way too much for whatever this is.
Second thought: Why are the related items "Big Ass Titties Jigsaw Puzzles"?

hedgefield

Seconded.
I was on the fence just reading this, but $32 is a ridiculous price point. They're selling the Orange Box for even less than that, and I seriously doubt this game could deliver an experience even remotely on par with Half Life 2, Portal AND Team Fortress 2.

So good luck. I'll be interested in seeing the sales figures for this a year from now.

Bold'd for the sake of the masses. That site is definitely NSFW.

I agree about the price not being very attractive, but your argumentation is actually more ridiculous than the price. The fact that the Orange Box - a hit game made by huge company - is offered for incredibly attractive prices doesn't mean every one has to sell/buy stuff that delivers equal content per 1$ value. Not to mention that such value depends greatly on what the buyer likes, and also that someone might wish to not only pay for a game, but invest in an indie developer too.

Perhaps, but if those screenshots are any indication, I think these shysters are just ripping it and looking for suckers.

Seriously, the screenshot and price don't match. At all. Made me laugh. :)

This is pretty disappointing. Even if the description didn't smack of soul-destroying capitalist ideals and the one measly screenshot did justify the price, the whole approach is just wrong.

For starters, there have to be better ways to present your product than chucking it on a site like this. The whole thing is ugly and clunky. Personally I don't have much time for any domains ending in 'z' like they're so coolz but I guess someone must use it (odd how all the most popular items in the Software category are by the same developer..) There's not even a profile of this developer or a link to *their* site (not that I would expect them to have bothered making one). I mean, at least grab some hosting, add one of the many shopping cart modules and write a proper sales pitch with screenshots.

I gave the demo a go for the hell of it and, while I don't judge games on graphics alone, it's quite clear that no love has been put into this. The buildings in the town are just quick boxes with names slapped on. Where's the visual cues, the subtlety, the 'showing not telling'?? Also no effort has been made to hide the edge of the map: the road just disappears into blueness=O

That and the various stats you're supposed to monitor are all accessed by buttons (and ugly grey defaults at that) and they give read outs like 'Your mood is 10', 'the time is 21' and so on. Why the arbitrary numbers? I have a mood of 10? Is that a good feeling? Anyway, who has the patience to click buttons all day just to see what their health is? Please tell me you've seen HUD indicators in at least one other game..

Even the easy stuff has been overlooked - why is the Use cursor just an arrow? Why are the hotspots so fiddly? Why is the 'how to play' just a splurge of text? Why not rename the default AGS folder and give the game a proper icon? There's a walking animation in the game so clearly time has been spent on this, but why not give it the love it deserves? For the love of CJ, why?!

I love sim games like the Sims, Sim City and Theme Hospital etc (ahh nostalgic moment..), and would especially like to see attempts done with AGS, but this is just heart-breaking to see. It's not a terrible game, I can overlook the graphics, and some thought has gone into the gameplay (well I assume so from the description, I didn't actually play long enough to have a hang over or go to church - what fun), but this isn't ready for commercial release yet. I suggest you start a Games in Production thread and take it from there. This could be great if you're willing to put the effort in.

Gee, thanks, I really should do that more..

EDIT: I would gladly pay $30 for pictures of Mods' friends cats=P

Icey

@Mods: Wow - wait, Do not conpare me to this person. I got things bigger to do and even if I was selling a game it would not go for $30 because I know I did $30 of time in to my project.

Well, it's cheaper than this crap and the screenshot is more appealing, so I think I'll go with Big Ass Titties Jigsaw Puzzles this time.

Not to mention that such value depends greatly on what the buyer likes, and also that someone might wish to not only pay for a game, but invest in an indie developer too.

I'm sorry if my message came off that way, I wasn't trying to compare indie developers with the production monster that is Valve, I was merely using the Orange Box as an example to point out to the creator of this game that for less $$$ than what he is charging, someone could buy plenty of games right now with astronomically higher production values than his. So how is he going to justify charging that price? Why would people spend their hard-earned money on something that looks like it was thrown together in Paint in two afternoons over something that has the potential to offer a well-designed and satisfying experience for weeks, even months, to come? Even a supporting investment in him as a developer should be backed up by some sort of evidence of his ability other than the fact that he made it through the AGS tutorial, so to speak.

But I see your point in how I was kinda comparing apples to oranges, so perhaps using Gemini Rue would have been a better choice, since the same rhetoric applies: GR's production values are so much higher than this game, yet Josh only charges half of what It's My Life is priced at. And even if the situation was reversed and GR was $30 and IML $15, GR would still be agreeably priced while this game was still way overpriced.

And that is because GR has something that IML lacks: love for the craft.

For me that is the mark of a worthwhile game, when you can feel the developer really put his heart into it, regardless of whether the genre is up my alley or not, or even if the game is without its flaws or not. That is why in my opinion Josh would have been well within his right to charge more than those 15 dollars for Gemini Rue. Whereas if Msd really loved the medium he would not have charged a dime since he would realize that he is not offering his potential customers value for their money.

So don't get me wrong, I am all for charging for your content - IF you make it worth it for the consumer. But I think we can agree on that point, and I hope Msd realizes it now too. Otherwise he is in this for all the wrong reasons.

Sadly, I suspect Msd very much is. I doubt he'll be back to read all this either, somehow.

Out of curiosity, is this the first attempted scam using AGS?

There was a virus of some sort created with AGS that slowly deleted hard drives, they had the nerve to charge for it as well. I think it was called "Gemini Rue" or something.
