Anyone know a good psychological adventure game?

I'm looking for something psychological, like an horror or "look for a serial killer" type of game. Any game related or close to that will be nice. Thanks in advance.

If you haven't already, I'd suggest checking out the Chzo Mythos series.

In chronological order of release:
5 Days a Stranger
7 Days a Skeptic
Trilby's Notes
6 Days a Sacrifice

Plenty of suspense and psychological horror. There are some action-esque sequences that are more reminiscent of slasher films, but by and large it's a great series of mystery horror games.

Also, it's not really a horror game, per se, and perhaps doesn't fit completely into what you're looking for, but I found that WHAM's "Submerged - La Sol" did a great job of invoking a sense of claustrophobia, fear and urgency that is uncommon in a lot of adventure games.
Check out MonstroCity! | Level 0 NPCs on YouTube! | Life's far too short to be pessimistic.

Igor Hardy

The Dark Eye

Bad Day on the Midway

Those are not traditional adventure games, but are as good as it gets in regard to psychological edge.

Wow that's a lot, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! Guess I will have a lot to play, I just beated Downfall and love it, is good to know there are more games in that category. That's why I love indie gaming, they make the good games of the past today.

It's not a horror game, but the old "A mind forever voyaging" was pretty trippy and has stayed with me for years and years.

Oh yeah, if you're into IF, you should try Slouching Towards Bedlam.

Sanitarium looked great, just watched some videos and look amazing, I came from consoles so I don't know much about PC games. I switch when this generation of gaming came, but now I can relive the good old days. Slouching Towards Bedland and A Mind Forever Voyaging looks like text games, checked on wiki and is a totally new genre for me,  and I'm using Windows 7 so compatibility with too old games not so good.
Btw that Submerged look interesting, I just read what is about and is something I have not seen before in a game.

Just google up Dosbox or WinFrotz. Seriously, IF games are so amazingly simple that something has been written to get them to run on practically any system.

Clock Tower? I have seen it but actually never play. I know there is a translation for the 1st SNES game.

If something like Sanitarium appeals you may like Mind's Eye.

Thx I downloaded Mind's Eye and all the free AGS games you all mentioned. I kinda hooked with the Ben Jordan, although it was not really what I was looking for, I really it, very good games. I will have a lot to choose after I beat this series.

Yes, WinFrotz run perfectly well under Win7. I seriously suggest you try at least some IF if you don't know about them yet. It's great fun, and technically we all wouldn't be here without it. (At leat we would have less to talk about)
