I just currently downloaded the AGS Editor and i have been running through the tutorials to get a handle on things, but i have encountered a large problem.  Whenever i run the the build with debug on or off, full screen or not, it is always a small window in the center of my screen.  When i scroll over to make the character move by clicking the mouse disappears and won't reappear until i have left the screen.  I have a brand new Dell XPS 17 with the most up to date Graphics, Memory, and a large HDD.  I have tried many options to get the program to run properly but after failing all day yesterday and again this morning I wanted to reach out to the community and see if y'all could help.  Below is more detail on the system i am running.

Dell XPS 17
Processor Intel core i7-2760QM
CPU 2.4 GHz
64-bit Operation
8 GB RAM (7.9 usable)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M
OS: Windows 7

Let me know if you need anymore information.

Sincerely,

AGS needs the latest DirectX9 but Win7 (which uses 10/11) usually comes with an outdated version.

By default, running a game from within the editor will always run it windowed. Without the debugger (Shift + F5), AGS uses the setting chosen in the editor's preferences.

If your game uses a small resolution like 320x200, you can increase the window size by compiling the game (F7), then running winsetup in the game's Compiled folder and selecting the x2, x3 or x4 filter. This setting is then also used if you run the game from within the editor.

To fix the mouse cursor issue, try changing the graphics driver to Direct3D, also in winsetup.

That worked, i really appreciate the help, now since i got that fixed i do have one more question.  I set it to run in the window but it doesn't seem to be re-sizable at the moment, can that be changed in the settings later?  I know it defaults to full screen if this option is not selected, but i wanted a way to maybe expand the window to a custom size as you would a internet window.

Khris

That's not possible, your game has a fixed resolution. Even changing the filter during execution isn't currently possible.

so in other words you want to make the game bigger than the default 320x200?

Khris

Not necessarily, but to run a 320 game on a standard resolution (1280) you'll want a x3/windowed or x4/fullscreen setting.

The size of the game as in, the setting in General settings depends on the graphics style you want to use. If you want to make a lowres 320x200 game, like a lot of people here do, you simply use the filters to test/play it.
If you want a highres game, like a lot of other people do, you use 1024x768.

Did you not find the Graphics filter setting in winsetup?

Phillipv20

I did, took me a few tries to get it open for some reason the build command wasn't functioning properly.
