Has anyone seen Martyrs?

Ok so there's this film, Martyrs. I will briefly sum up the plot for those who have not seen it and dont particularly want to. So SPOILERS AHEAD!

Essentially this cult get women and torture them to such extremes that they enter a trance like state and see "the other world" (presumably the afterlife).
This has never been done successfully with the 'Martyr' communicating what they saw. However they finally manage to do it with this woman and she whispers her revelation to the cult leader.
The cult leader then shoots herself.

SO my question is, what do you think the martyr told her? I know that the whole point of the film is that we don't know but as an exercise in brainstorming i'd like to hear your ideas.

Here's the pertinent clip with a translation below:

I often recommend this film to other people as a film that I think no person should ever watch because it's (the events are) so terrible, but I think everyone should see it because it's (the film is) so good.

I've wondered about that, when I first saw the film. Presumably for the leader to commit suicide of her own free will, there must have been some promise of something greater "on the other side". But then again, maybe when the martyr entered her trance, she actually wasn't seeing the other side of death, but was being possessed by some evil force from the beyond, which when it whispered in the leader's ear, it drove her so insane that she had no other choice.

Weirdly provocative film.

P.S. It has been three years since I saw the film, and I won't ever watch it again. :D

Obviously "haha omg the afterlife is so much better than earth, woo, you should totally come and join in the fun  :cheesy:"

Coz, you know, if she had said something like "omg the afterlife is awful" the obvious solution would be to postpone going there for as long as possible.

Calin Leafshade

Yea that is what i thought.

Except when she shoots herself she hardly looks pleased with the idea.

Plus she says "Keep doubting" just before she dies..

She does not look like someone who thinks somethign good is going to happen.

ThreeOhFour

Well perhaps she thinks the martyr lady is so cross at her for torturing her that she is tricking her into dying even though she hasn't seen anything?

It'd be understandable to have doubts about embracing death when the idea of postponing it for as long as possible is enforced by so much of the world we exist in.

With a few seconds more of further thought, it's intriguing to ponder whether the leader could trust anything the martyr actually said. After all, they tortured her to the point that she died. I mean, they freaking:

Even if the martyr actually did enter this martyr state, how could she (the leader) truly trust that it wasn't some ploy to take revenge? Maybe the martyr did see a wondrous beyond for herself, but knew that the leader would be condemned to some sort of Hell...? The leader would almost certainly have these doubts running through her mind....

One theory i have is that Anna intentionally lied to the cult leader in order to destroy the cult. She said that there was no afterlife and the whole thing was pointless.

No, I haven't seen the movie, but the clip is intriguing. But the skinless.... ewwwww :-X :sealed:
I guess it would be better if I saw full movie prior, since I may miss something important from the story.

In which case would there be a reason to kill oneself?
Secondly, I have doubts a person would be able to come to some logical plan right after being tortured like that and seeing another world.

I would make a guess that "Keep doubting" is actually the key. I mean, we should not ask "why did leader killed herself", but rather "why did she wanted to make others not know of what she heard".

Crimson Wizard

Hahaha lol I got it.

Well, maybe not really, but this guess if just too funny.
