Uh. Hi againg guys. I am seriously in dillema. I was going to continue my development on Crimson bath, then a game idea based on the Slender Man character pops up in my head, now i can't work on any of the two because my brain just... Blocked. Please, if you can give me some help on how to get over this, i am losing that feeling that i had when i started with AGS.

"A story is never finished, without it's end"...

Yep, I made that. Although someone has probably formed a similar arrangment of words.

To put simply - your story will never get finished if you lose interest in it. Find something that interests you about the story you have written or dig up the realisation of what made you interested in telling that story in the first place.

Otherwise, pick one. And deepol.

If you make a Slender Man game, I will write about you in my dissertation. If that's incentive one way or the other.

Don't fret it, push on and perhaps work on something new, you're likely to return to these projects when the time is right and you feel motivated for them again. Worst thing is to feel guilty/blocked about not being able to work on games if it's still something you want to do. Go and do other things for a few weeks and then perhaps you'll find you want to work on game again :) "Downtime" is important creatively. Despite being a bit of a paradox.

Additionally I would advise keep doing what you do objectively where possible. For instance, I've been wanting to write some music for a few days, tried and thought it sucked a lot, so didn't bother for a few days after. But then I went back and examined closely what the task was, what was needed there and was able to go back and write something and enjoy doing it. Clearly knowing the objective possibly helped, not just aimlessly trying to make music.

The same for writing, I've been sitting here for a few hours playing with some tools thinking "it's game making time!" but I know I really need to put the computer down, get out the house and think about it objectively - what am I trying to make? Etc, before it can actually go ahead productively. Perhaps you do have clear objectives with your projects, if that's the case great! But don't be afraid to go back to the stimulus/foundations of the idea and see if there are ways to fire up new avenues to work on. Find an inspirational character that you can follow on twitter and stuff, for me it's Arnie cos he often talks about "reaching goals" and going for it the best you can. Objectivity, inspiration and the ability to not feel guilty about some downtime is my suggestion. Best of luck!

Make a very small game, one room, that is totally different in style from your game.

Uh, sorry for being away so long, I did see your helpful tips though but I was too lazy to log in.

So... Update! I am thinking of making an SCP/Slenderman crossover game. But before that I'll just make a couple of "test games" if that is ok.

Now just to arse myself to draw the required art...

Oh, and thanks again.
