Brand new poster here...

I just finished the AGS game "The Oracle" by Eugene Couta and I absolutely loved it. It is made with photographs (some of them are really beautiful) and a point-and-click interface. It's an adventure that starts in snowy Canada and ends up in Portugal. It is a good mystery with not-too-hard, not-too-easy puzzles. I liked it a lot and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it.

It is also inspirational to me. I want to go out and take some pictures and make a game out of them. It doesn't seem like it would be too hard. I haven't looked too much into the AGS program, because it seems like it would be overwhelming, but I've been enjoying the games. I want to make the leap and create a game similar to the style of The Oracle, and if it isn't much of a leap for a novice like me I could see myself jumping into it immediately. I wonder how big that leap would be...

And I'm also wondering if there are any other point-and-click adventure games that use photographs.

Howdy,

I know of other games that make use of photographs, but their names elude me now.

It actually isn't that hard to get going on game making with AGS. There is a good tutorial in the manual that comes with AGS, and you can find tons of youtube videos about it as well.

Just start small, and you should have lots of fun.

Welcome on board!

First game that comes to my mind is Other Worlds http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/Games.aspx/Detail/471/Other_Worlds
(and it's AGS) and then I remeber a game (not AGS and German, but with photos), called Timanfaya http://www.timanfaya-game.de/index.php

… and there are more along the way

Have fun!

EDIT:
Two more AGS-games like that are „Soviet Unterzögersdorf“
You might want to go through the AGS Archives to find even more by watching the screenshots.

This was one of the first AGS games I ever played... I might have even played it before I knew what AGS was... maybe.
I really liked it.
I want to make a game with photos too, mainly because I can't draw.  The furthest I ever got was making an explorable demo of my living room using DarkBASIC... shit that was ages ago :-(

This was a very good game, I played it ages ago.  I think Duzz Quest also used photographs for the backgrounds (and maybe even characters?) - but it was 3rd person not 1st, and lower resolution than The Oracle.
