Just picked this up on indiegames.com

Dagon engine has just been open-sourced. Is multi-format (PC, Mac, Linux and iOS). Uses Lua based scripting to get things done. Custom made for point and clicks it seems.

Haven't looked at it much yet. Anyone else know of this or got comments? In the light of various discussions about moving away from AGS (shock horror, but there - I said it!) towards other engines e.g. Unity, I thought this might be of interest to some.

Certainly looks interesting, but the fact that it is "under heavy development" is a bit of a stumbling stone. I prefer a slightly outdated, feature-rich and reportedly stable toolkit like AGS over one that'll still need some advanced and basic stuff implemented. But interesting indeed, and nice to see it going open-source.

Yeah, agreed. I just posted it in case it was of use to someone.

It's other limit I suppose is that it's 1st person (or so it seems), but that still might be interesting to someone who wants to do a 1st person p'n'c adventure.

Still though, an adventure game engine that easily ports to 3 major platforms is definitely nothing to sneeze at, and could probably be a useful building block for future AGS developments.
