Ok so I am somewhat a bit of a lurker when it comes down to AGS. I'm constantly dabbling with bits and pieces and coming up with nothing ((apart from a demo I did a few years back)

I know I can make a game but every time I sit down to create something I find myself procastinating and scribbling on GIMP or GrafxGale and nothing ever comes out of it (albeit some interesting ideas)
I feel like if I work in a team I will not behave correctly or focus at the job in hand.
but if I work alone I will have a better idea of the scale of the job at hand. also if I compete in a mags game I will constantly tell myself that everything I'm doing is crap and concede defeat..

So set me something to do..  give me a character to design, a medial task ..or plot, and a genre.
example
    Character    Guybrush Threepwood Pirate wannabe
    Task         Get water from well
    Genre        Horror

But not a known character please

Everyone that finishes a MAGS game in time can be considered a winner. The advantage of MAGS is that you have a strict time frame and other people will motivate you to finish.

Eric

Can you do a short one-room game set in a boxing ring, the goal of which is survival against a comically bigger opponent?

Radiant

Character: Jacob the Chicken
Task: Complete your stamp collection
Genre: Western.

Stupot

Character: Sinsin
Task: Design and make a short AGS game
Genre: Game design sim

(If only I took my own advice)
MAGGIES 2024

gameboy

Character: Propane salesman / escaped convict / baby giraffe
Task: Travel back in time to rid the world of an evil warlord / defeat your archnemesis in a dance off / investigate the murder of a milk man
Genre: Survival horror / science fiction comedy / romance

Actually, I would really try and think of something for MAGS. The current topic is quite interesting and allows many different interpretations. Man, if only I had more time on my hands I'd love to do a MAGS game again.

And mine! :P

As for Sinsin, I suggest you design something that forces you to stay small. For example, game that takes place in a single room bar (IN SPACE! IN THE WILD WEST! IN THE WILD SPACE WEST!), where you have to pick up a girl (sorta like the first Leisure Suit Larry :D).

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

Thanks for the Replies peeps.

Dusting off Mike Lechey seems a good plan of attack here. I always wondered if I should restart this and capitalise on the ownership of a dictionary. :)

Some Good Ideas here, keep them coming (maybe we could have an Idea pot for those stuck like me)

     @ Babar and Eric
I probably should think along the lines of a one room game but it does feel rather limited for me.

anywho I have been working on Verb/save/restore GUI's today and am getting back into the swing of scripting basics
3.2.1.111 is quite easy once you get the layout down     (I've been away for a hell of a time .. I was used to 2.7   oooer)

Here's a nine-character, four-room game plan for you, based on my original premise:

Characters:
Smitty (a cornerman), the PC
Jocko, your brother, a boxer
Nick Slamrock, your brother's hefty opponent
Burt Schmendrick, Slamrock's cornerman
The Ref
Ringside announcer
Two audience members with whom you can interact, out of a crowd
A concession stand jerk

Rooms:
The ring, which also features both corners and a ringside table where the announcer sits
The seats, where you find two audience members who will interact with you
The locker room
The concession stand

The premise:
Somehow, despite being a welterweight, your brother has been booked into the fight of his life with the local heavyweight champion. You've got three rounds to get him through, and as your brother dances around the ring to avoid Slamrock's powerful blows, you'll stoop to any level of trickery to ensure that your brother stays alive. If you happen to win the match, then all the better.

Actually, who would be interested in another OROW?

SinSin

I love playing the entries when complete. the entries for one of the 2005 OROW were fantastic, one of them was Mr Colossals Automation.

Following Eric's idea:

Character: Nick Slamrock
Room: The Ring
Task: Use Chopsticks obtained from Concessions Stand to tie Nick's shoelaces together (after first reading the book "Mastering Advanced Chopstick Techniques")
