Hey everyone!

So, you won't have seen me around, I'm pretty new and all.
However, I've lurked and read around here for about a year, just kind of checking things out.
Haven't played anything yet though and would like to see what you guys think would be like an "ultimate list" of sorts, the games made by you guys and other AGSers that are a must-play to educate and introduce someone into the community.

If possible, it should be a fairly comprehensive list, as I'd like to get through as many games as possible, although it will obviously take time.

Thanks everyone!

Ghost

This is not an "ultimate list"- games come and go and any such list will eventually be outdated- but if you want to get a test of good games that show off AGS's flexibility, I recommend these titles. There's everything in there, from classic point-and-click to platformers, simulations and puzzle/boardgame style gameplay. Quite a few Award Winners in there, too.

Apprentice 1
Apprentice 2
Cart Life
Annie Android
Colourwise
Indiana Rodent
Duty and Beyond
The Infinity String
Sheep's Quest
Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

Thanks for the quick reply Ghost!
I'll check them out :)

Naturally, such lists are completely personal, so I'm aware that saying "ultimate list" is a bit of a silly thing to say, but I'm just more or less looking for, as you say, games that show off AGS's flexibility, as well as games that are innovative in their art, their story, puzzles, music, etc.  Just the cream of the crop really.

Anyone else? :D

Khris

Nanobots and Infinity Bit, the latter being a Jump'n'Run

Sorting this list by either of the two ratings is also a pretty good start:

The Ben Jordan Series
The Barn Runner Series
Time Gentleman, Please!
The Shivah
A Tale of Two Kingdoms
The Journey Down: Over the Edge
The Marionette
Primordia

Gemini Rue
The Journey Down: Over the Edge (Original)
Blackwell Legacy
Time Gentlemen, Please!
Ben There, Dan That
That really well made top down stealth game for one MAGS I can't remember the name of.

Knew you guys would be all over a thread like this!
Thanks everyone, that oughta keep me busy and inspired for a fair while!

(Feel free to keep posting though!)

Gemini Rue
The McCarthy Chronicles

When I asked myself this question these games came to mind:

Force majeure II: The Zone
A Second Face
The Cat Lady
Ben Jordan 8
1213
7 Days a Skeptic
Maniac Mansion Deluxe (I know.)
Nine Hours to Dawn
The McCarthy Chronicles: Episode 1

There'll be more of my 'favourites' but I suppose it's usually the one's that pop in your head that left a lasting impression. The Zone doesn't get mentioned very often but it really is quite a trip and the music is fantastic.

frenzykitty

Gemini Rue
Resonance
Downfall
The Cat Lady
The Blackwell Series
5 Days a Stranger

I'd throw those on my list, too. Goes without saying, really.

Nelly Cootalot
The Winter Rose
Cart Life
Gesundheit!
Gemini Rue
Shifter's Box
Infinity String
Downfall
Blackwell Legacy, Unbound and Convergence
Merry Christmas, Alfred Robbins
Technobabylon series
Second Face
Ben Jordan 1 & 2 SE
Ben Jordan 6

I probably forgot something that absolutely should be included, but that's the best I can do atm.

The Journey Down is great, but when I think about it, the HD remake is what my mind sees.

CaptainD

I can't believe no-one has said The Uncertainty Machine yet - so I'm saying it!  Also some terrific RON games like Purity of the Surf and A Better MousetrapPuzzlebots and Spooks were great too.  Other than that I think all of my favourites have already been mentioned.

This one often gets missed. It's a very short but impressive game if you're looking for something to inspire you. I personally loved it.
A Cure for the Common Cold

Edit: Yet another inspiring game that didn't quite hit the spotlight.
This Game (which was probably due to its title)

Blackthorne

"Enjoy Every Sandwich" - Warren Zevon

Stupot

The ones so far mentioned are all great.
These are some earlier games I played that stuck in my mind the most.

Sydney Finds Employment
Super Jazz Man
Duty and Beyond
Prodigal
Emily Enough
Minds Eye

@Armageddon - Is this the top-down stealth game you mentioned? Jailbreak, which was in the Summerbatch?
