Anyone else out there also a huge Board Game fanatic?

Adeel

Well, I like playing Checkers. What about you?

Radiant

I used to be, yes, back when I worked for Ravensburger.

I wouldn't say I was a 'board game fanatic', but at one point the fiancée and I decided we would go around all the charity shops searching for old board games and try them all. The best we found was probably 'Rat Race', a game where you start at lower class and have to climb the 'class ladder', collecting status symbols and ultimately get rich. You can win money on horse racing, get lucky in the stock market etc (which is funny because in these instances you have to roll the dice for the other player and roll high in order for them to get a return). It takes some getting used to at first, but I'd recommend it for a quiet evening or even a drinking session - it can get quite hilarious.

There's a bit about it here: http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/4479/ratrace

Me? Not so much anymore but my wife is a die hard fan of Ticket to Ride. I lose every single time.

I play Panzer Leader from time to time. Where I live this kind of games are not popular at all, so I was really lucky to find someone as nerd as me to play with.

I like board games and card games.  Last ones I played were:

Yahtzee
Blokus
Monopoly Deal

Good stuff.   :)

Me and some colleagues meet a couple of times a year to play table top rpg. So, I take your geek points and raise with a million.
Although I should add it's mostly for nostalgic reasons - and to hang out.

frenzykitty

Well... I play every other day with the missus and have big game days ever two weeks... Raise you a BILLION :P

I started watching TableTop on youtube, kind of made me wish I had more friends, but I went to local multimedia store and somebody actually asked one of the workers if they had Alhambra...and I kind of geeked out because I knew what that random word was.
I don't want the world, I just want your half

I like Ticket to Ride, but the folks I play with are way too serious.  They play online ...one of them claimed to be ranked #17 in the world at one point.  The missus and I play Monopoly sometimes, and we often play Dutch Blitz and Quiddler (card games).  Also we play Pigs and Tens (both kind of dice games, in a very loose interpretation of the word) and my all-time favourite: Bananagrams!  I used to play a lot of Diplomacy when I lived with my brothers, but fortunately I don't surround myself with such ruthless and backstabbing people these days.   :)

Absolutely love the Shogun board game from 1986, always preffered it to Risk (if you're into that sort of game). Inspired the Total War series apparently too! :) Also, if we don't feel like being dicks to each other at home, there's the co-op Lord Of The Rings board game to hopelessly fail at :P

Stupot

I bought that very same LOTR game for the family one Xmas several years ago.  Unfortunately, my family dismissed it as "too complicated" and it never got played :-(
Exactly the same thing happened with the LOST board game I bought a few years back too.  They like to stick with what they know and apparently will only play a new game if the rules take less than 5 minutes to read and learn :/

I loved Colditz when I was little. My nan had it at her house and we would play it most times I visited. We also played a lot of cluedo, taboo and trivial pursuit. Some of my friends and I recently played a game called Cards Against Humanity, which might not technically be a board game, but very fun! Drinking helps because it's kind of ridiculous. We also played a game called Jack Ass which was a sort of general knowledge thing. Again I found it pretty fun.

I'm quite fond of that game, it's the only one I play regularly online. Have you tried it out?

Twilight Struggle, Labyrinth, Eclipse, Race for the Galaxy, W40K tabletop, Mansions of Madness, Arkham Horror, Space Hulk, Horus Heresy, Descent...
just to name a few... Love 'em!
Wrongthinker and anticitizen one. Utterly untrustworthy. Pending removal to memory hole.

Played one game of Arkham Horror with friends who had played before.  Spent hours doing what they told me to do and had no idea what was going on.  Then we all died.

I join some friends for boardgames whenever I can.  I have some friends who are huge collectors and have a great selection.  Really enjoy Betrayal at House on the Hill, Dominion, Flux.  I've played bunches with them that I don't even remember the name of.  Plus the old standby's Carcassonne and Catan.

As a kid, my favorite was the Clue Museum Caper spinoff.  That's good stuff.

Vince Twelve: I'm keen to try out Betrayal at House on the Hill!

WHAM: Nice collection friend! I see you're also a sucker for the Fantasy Flight Cthulhu stuff :)
