ORIGINAL MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION

While we spend most of the time roaming the world on foot in adventure games, it's generally inferred that the characters use various means of transportation to navigate between zones.
I want you to take this opportunity to spice up your game world or reveal an aspect of a character's personality.

Rules:
1. Draw an original mode of transport.
2. No size-limits.
3. No color-limits.
4. Multiple entries are allowed.

Have fun!

Deadline: August 31st.

It is said, that somewhere in the northern parts of (Dutch) Friesland you may find a kobold named Tjores together with his trusty pigeon Pier. Tjores is old. Very old. And thanks to kobold-magic, so is Pier. Some even claim that he was the first rock pigeon to have been domesticated...others question whether he's domesticated at all.

Spoiler
Concept:
Basically I just wanted to draw a pigeon...because pigeons/doves are fun.

Source: Vogelbescherming.

I thought about the Turkse Tortel; simply because they're cute. But I decided their personality didn't really fit.
So I pivoted to the Houtduif (Common wood pigeon). But eventually he turned into a Rotsduif (Rock Dove; similar to the stadsduif/city doves) when the kobold entered the picture. I felt their pairing matched better (although I decided to keep a bit of the city dove-look in there since it suited Pier).

As for their names. Well, they're taken form an old Dutch song (cover). And since 'Pier' can be both a name and a Dutch synonym for the 'regenworm' (Common Earthworm) it made sense to give my bird such a great name.

And that - of course - brought us to Fiesland, thanks to probably the most famous Pier in history: Grutte Pier; a legendary Friesian freedom-fighter.

Oh, and Tjores' blue jacket is a reference to Doctor Snuggles. Because that was the first thing I thought of when reading the theme. So I just had to put that in there.

Process:

Normally I to all my drawing and colouring in Corel Painter. But for this I decided on a hybrid-style, where the colouring is vector-based using Affinity Designer, and the line-art and sketches are still pixel-based using Painter.

May I just complement you on including The Gene Machine in the image reference? Such a blast from the past! Back in the day I had to travel from Finland to Estonia to get my hands on a copy of it (a pirated one) :-D.

What's the game with the airship? That one looks way cool!

I never get tired of this picture. Unfortunately it's not from a real game. It's a mockup made by Miez for a competition eons ago.
