Satoru's Walk Cycle

here we go, this took a while but i think it doesn't look that bad.  as walk cycles are fairly hard to get right, i would love some constructive criticism on this one guys.  



remember, it's for the 320x200 256 colour "Summer Paradise" Game.


and as a special bonus, because i love you all so much.  here's another character!

I like it!

Walking guy:
1) unless intentional, he 'wobbles' a little too much for my taste.  I prefer the head/shoulders to just go up and down and not back and forth.
2) the legs are just slightly off.  While one leg is moving forward, the other should be moving back.  You have it very close, but it looks like it might be just 1 frame off or so.

Woman:
The only thing I would say about this would be to get rid of the black outline on the shirt and pants and instead use a darker version of blue for the shirt and grey for the pants.  I like the black outline on the shoes.

Not bad. You could try skipping the frame where his arms and legs are straight. It looks like he stops shortly and then takes a step rather than actually walks. Also, when the legs are in their most forward position, you shouldn't have them straight. It looks like he does a little kick everytime. Instead you should have them bent and in the next frame that should be the leg where his weight is put rather than having the straight standing position frame.
I hope I was clear enough... Look at other walking anims for reference.
It also looks a little strange when his head is slightly turned while the rest of the body is in full profile.

I like the drawing! He looks a bit wooden though- I think its because he keeps his back straight?

Some comments

The arms look like they are made out of rubber and are quite elastic :), if you look closely to the anim, you'll know what I mean.

The legs look like they are stamping on the floor, and like machineelf said, there should be a frame inserte after the leg is most forward.

The woman is very nice, but the skin colour could be a bit darker (since it's a summer holiday game) and like DM said about the outlines
