Well just to put this to rest, I'll reply! After all I had the email notification thing turned on, so I was alerted to the new post in the thread.

Thanks for the comments Joelman, and I'm sure Erwin and Proskrito will also be grateful.

I'm not sure I'm really enough of an authority on the style to do a tutorial, but I'd be interested to know whether anyone else is creating backgrounds as vector artwork before converting to bitmap...

You guys make me all confused.
Whenever I see a background like this one, I go "Seriously, I'll practice doing vector graphics." and whenever I see one of miez's backgrounds, I go "Seriously, I'll practice drawing lo-res graphics."

Anyways, tutorials - keep 'em coming! :D

By the way - did you use Flash to create this beautiful backbround?

I actually use CorelDraw 11 which I think is ideal for this kind of work (and many other things too).

Maybe I will get around to doing a tutorial, of only to fly the flag for CorelDraw, which isn't all that popular yet I think is far better than Illustrator or Freehand...

hey all,
sorry to bring up an old thread, but dude, this is awesome! lol I made a point not to reply to any old threads, but this is by far the best Lucas-Arts style BG I have seen, I couldn't just let this slip into the gorge of eternal peril we call the recycle bin.
and evil, I see what you meant about the PM thing, hadn't noticed that before, I'll keep that in mind next time, thanks.
oh hey, Corel Draw. Yes! Rock! ;D

Are clones people two?

I use Moho. It has a lot of facilities for animations (it's main goal) but it's also good for drawing. See their gallery at their web: http://www.lostmarble.com

This is called a masterpiece. Reminds me a lot of Disney.
You need to make a game, tamp! ;D
Veteran, writer... with loads of unreleased games. Work in progress.

You're too kind, jannar85! *blush*

I may be jinxing myself here, but I'll bite the bullet and say that I'm actually working on a tutorial for this style. It's actually based on this image because, er... it's the only one I've done.

It will be announced in the Tutorials sticky when ready
