Major update! I've been working my ass off since there's less than a week before the submission deadline, uh oh :-X.
Hopefully I will be able to release the game here in about 2-3 weeks. Hope you're all looking forward to it (laugh).

First of all, here is a belated gameplay video of the first scene!

This scene is pretty close to the final product though certain things are still not there, for instance Pico's up and down walk cycle that I'm still working on >_<. And I will certainly change the way Mommy looks.
Sorry for skipping the conversations, I was trying to keep this video short.

Some more artworks!

Try to spot the references!

Absolutely gorgeous! Love the character designs!

Also huge sense of relief after your title put this guy in my head

Hmm I didn't know about that guy but I do know another Pico that would be terrible if people mistake my Pico for him :X. And thanks for your compliment <3.

Some new screenshots!

Oh no Pico is stepping on Bun :D

Praying that I will finish this before the deadline. So many distractions :-X...

I'm sending a demo out to testers! If you want to be a tester just message me to get your copy! (laugh)

I like the subliminal messaging in the grass.

Thank you! I showed the image to some people I know but none of them even noticed that. Such a relief to know it's not unreadable :D.

Project Summary
Pico's Journey is my ongoing Final Year Project to be submitted on May 8. The project is now reaching its final stages.
I write the story, the script and design the game's look; the programming is done by slasher.
The game hopes to give the players an insight on schizophrenia and how to help its patients, through a lighthearted story that gets progressively dark.
Through solving the game's puzzles, the player will get deeper and deeper into Pico's mind and witness what she's witnessing: a strange, quirky and nightmarish world.
The art direction I am aiming for is a uniquely minimal, painterly style that resemble watercolor paintings even though they are created digitally.

Story Summary
Pico's Journey is a story about an 8 years old girl, Pico who lives in her own world made up of imaginary friends and strange happenings, because of her mental condition. Surrounding her are her three 'imaginary' friends, Bun (a stuffed bunny that came to life), Mr Y, Mrs X (two bodiless voices inside her head), and Tea - her only real life friend. Tea is the only 'real' person she trusts in and likes to be with.

One day, while on her way to meet Tea, Pico notices a man who's secretly following her. Confused between reality and her hallucination, she grows more and more scared of this man and only wants to avoid him at first. Eventually, urged on by her imaginary friends and giving in to her own fear, she attempts to hurt the man. The story will gradually unfold to reveal who the Man is, Tea's secret, and how Tea can be the only one to help Pico cope with her illness.

UPDATE: Voice casting is finished. Please find out more about the game's current progress at: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=50180.0

Hi guys!

I am working on a game made with AGS, and it's also my Final Year Project!

Please click here to find out more about the project.

Here is a video showing one part of the rough prototype: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mR3um-gTPYw

And the most recent screenshot:

The deadline of this project is around the start of May 2014. I am almost finished with the programming side with the help of an awesome programmer I found from the forum, and currently working on finishing up the artworks.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me with two big outstanding challenges left: voice acting and play testing!

For voice actors: Please look at this audition info for more information.

For play testers: Please PM me or reply in this thread to let me know you're interested. I don't feel the game is good enough for testing right now, so I will send you a link to download the game later when I can, along with a survey sheet so you can help me fill out.

Thank you! :-*

Hello AGSers,

I'm a university student in my 4th year, Interactive Media major. I'm doing my Final year project, which I have decided to be an adventure game. I originally wanted to do everything by myself, then I realize I'm a complete noob in programming and learning how to use AGS isn't as simple as I'd thought. And I just found out recently that outside help is allowed, so that's why I want to seek help from you awesome people!

So far, what I and my supervisor have been working on is the basic storyline/structure of the game and a few character/background drafts. Here are some artworks I've created for the game:

Main character Pico.
Video of her walk cycle.

Pico in another style

Pico's bunny sidekick, who will turn bad near the end

Pico's best friend, Tea

The game will be about a schizophrenic 8-year-old girl learning to live with her illness, as well as her friends and family's journey of understanding her. The game should consist of 3 main quests, and should be played in about 10-30 minutes. If you're interested, I can give you the 2-page long synopsis that I and my supervisor came up with.

This project really means a lot to me, so I would be so so grateful if anyone could help me with it. I can't promise you lots of benefit, except for a chance of creating an awesome game that will be shown in public and played by many.

What you will have to do: I would say pretty basic AGS programming, creating room scripts and stuff. I will provide all the art and writing, sprites and dialogues and such, then you can help me put everything together.
Here are few things that I think would be great for the games, so please see if you can achieve these: have an NPC that follows the main character around and the main character can interact with; player can examine an inventory item and look at multiple close-up images of it (the front and back of a photo for example) - would be great if I can somehow put in a 3D rotatable object; a Help/Guide system when the player is stuck, that's basically a voice telling the player to do this and that; Halfway through the game, the backgrounds of the previously visited rooms will change (I want them to be the same places but with a darker, gloomier look); random speeches happening in the background; a crafting system to combine several objects at once.

The deadline will be at the end of April 2014. If you decide to help, I really hope that you can stay committed until the end because I would be screwed if the project is not finished on time :~(.

The game is non-commercial for now, but who knows what we can do with it if it turns out to be a big hit? :-D Of course I would not hesitate to share the profit if there's any 8-).

Thanks a lot guys! :-*
