Messages - Two Tales

Well... I haven't been here for a while and thought I'd come back for a browse through the website. Glad I did because this looks fantastic! I'm so gonna download and play. I can already tell I'm gonna like it.

I'm using the default TwoClickHandler which I've used numerous times before but for some reason, with this project, when I use Inventory item interact from the inventory items properties it is being completely ignored and uses inventory graphic as cursor instead. I have not changed any of the script for the TwoClickHandler in TwoClickHandler.asc or in global script other than what message is displayed in the Unhandled events.
'Look at inventory item' in the inventory items properties is working fine it is just the interact.
I've tried changing the mouse mode to eModeInteract incase it was a mouse mode issue but this makes no difference when I test it.
I did have an issue the other day where I added an inventory item and it was just passing type=1 on the unhandled events for inventory items. There seemed to be no explanation for that so in the end I just deleted the inventory item from my project, then re-added it and suddenly it wasn't doing it anymore so I put it down to a random glitch and moved on.
I've never had an inventory item's interact property be ignored when using the TwoClickHandler before so I'm totally baffled.
Any ideas?

How do I script to tell if music is playing in the music channel/folder.
I'm trying to do something like: If music playing {do nothing} else {aSomething.Play();}
I've tried playing around with the IsPlaying property and with Type property after looking in manual. But my experiments are failing.

Playing as a scavenger is a viable way of making money. There are plenty of locations that can be searched for loot.


Scrap and other items can be found floating around space that can be scooped up and sold for a few credits.


Life commitments have slowed progress for the last few months but I'm still working on it!

Looking forward to this. I enjoyed Pendek. The graphics look fun and I love any adventure game set in the jungle.

That's just the first font that was set in paint when I wrote over the screenshot. Must of been the last font I used :-D

I haven't done an update for a while so I'm going to waffle for a bit about controlling a ship.
I have a feeling that it might be a bit of a steep learning curve for some new players as there is quite a lot to take in so I've decided to add an in-flight manual to the ships computer.
All cockpits have the same basic layout with differences between them being mainly cosmetic. It would be waaaay to much work to make each ship's interior completely different.



The ship is steered using the keyboard, leaving the mouse cursor free to operate the various dash controls.

All four of the screens at the bottom are interactive.
Screen 1 does not display anything in cockpit view but when clicked on will bring up the galaxy map, the registry that displays your current objectives and cargo and also reputations.
Screen 2 displays (in cockpit view) message alerts for example; Incoming message or fuel level low. Clicking on the screen will bring up the ships status screen that shows any damage, fuel level, additional components that the player has bought for the ship etc. In addition you can also go to any messages that you have received while in flight.
Screen 3: When the target on the heads up display is aligned with a point of interest it will display on the data screen in cockpit view. Then screen 3 can be clicked on to bring up additional information regarding the object. This could be a planet, station, asteroid etc.
Screen4 does not display anything in cockpit view but when clicked on will bring up the pilot profile, in-flight manual and options menu.

The ships computer also has a voice that will say messages like warning, prepare for hyperdrive, incoming message etc.
The voice can be changed in the options to suit the players preference.

I don't think about making money from a game. I just love making them for fun (I guess you could say it's a hobby) and if others enjoy playing my creations then that's a fantastic feeling.
You've given me something to think about though...maybe I will extend it and add some extra polish to the game in the future.

This is a project I spent the best part of a year developing. I think the problem was I was so busy concentrating on atmosphere that I didn't really have a story planned out to back it up so after about 35% of the way through the game I didn't know where I was going with it.



I still wonder whether I should compile it and add it to the AGS database anyway under the category 'demo'.

Hey folks. I needed a break from my main project so I spent a month (and a bit) making this little mags-sized game about a solitary robot on an abandoned planet.
I guess I would describe it as a point n' click, puzzle platformer.
To move Sam click infront or behind him using the mouse cursor. Click on the question mark icon for additional help.
