I have a game nearly ready. Might be a bit ragged and I doubt I'll have time to add sound but it'll be playable.

Well done OneDollar! A worthy winner! Thank you to everyone who voted for Steeplejack and for your kind comments. Thanks as well to WHAM. I really enjoyed watching your stream. It was surreal to see someone else playing it but great!

Quote from: Wiggy on Mon 01/05/2023 06:08:25Why does the donkey's surname change from Peterson to Williams?

Its largely (exclusively) because I didn't pay sufficient attention whilst play-testing.

Don't worry, they're limited and pretty predictable. None of that failing to walk three times round your car nonsense.

Broken Windows - Chapter IV
By GOC Games
https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/2669-broken-windows-chapter-4/

You are Jack Burton, an inexperienced police constable and now even more inexperienced fugitive.

Finding yourself on the run, only you and your motley set of associates can find the truth, prevent further murders and clear your names.

This is the final episode of a humorous four-part point and click adventure game inspired by the Police Quest series (albeit with no dead ends). You CAN die in this one though, so saving is advisable.

Broken Windows Chapter 1 was chosen as a Pick of the Month on the AGS website for March 2020 and nominated for Best Game and Best Puzzles at the 2020 AGS Awards.
Broken Windows Chapter 2 was nominated for Best Freeware Game in the 2020 AGS Awards.
Broken Windows Chapter 3 was nominated for Best Freeware Game in the 2022 AGS Awards.

Hope you enjoy it and thank you for sticking with them!

Just played Splendor Solis. Really enjoyed it. There's a few rough edges (unhandled events, still getting a negative message when trying to take photo when the men have gone and when entering the auditorium at the end) but I liked the puzzles and the atmosphere. Looking forward to the full game!

Police Quest IV SCI(ish)
The controversial Sierra classic reinterpreted by GOC Games.

https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/2664-police-quest-4-sci-ish-demo/

A playable demo of Police Quest 4: Open Season re-made in the style of PQ2. Made in one month for the February 2023 MAGS competition.

Someone's on a killing spree and it's up to you to solve a string of seemingly random murders. Some clues may lead you to the killer. Some lead down blind alleys. You must find the killer before he strikes again. Play it by the book and you might just stay alive. Make a mistake and you could be the next victim.

Quote from: Stupot on Fri 24/02/2023 01:01:56As well as not being posted in this thread (yet - there's still time), it seems as though Bowsette's demo was also started considerably before this topic was announced.

I'm inclined not to allow it this time but am open to change my mind if others think that is too harsh.

I don't mind it being included if no one else does. Nice to have a few entries.

I should have something ready in the next couple of days.

That's great, thank you very much! I'll have a look and see what I can come up with.

Hello

I'm not great with coding, I've managed to make some decent-enough games using templates and Heath-Robinson style solutions to problems that would probably be easier to solve with basic coding knowledge but...

I would like to make a text-parser game in the style of Police Quest 2 and that era of Sierra. The manual is a bit vague, most of the posts on the forums are too specific and the only template I've found doesn't seem to run on the latest version. I watched a video tutorial but it's geared towards an older version and some of the important functions seem to be missing.

So... does anyone know of a recent template or a idiot's guide style tutorial for making a text parser game?

Thanks!

Thank you very much, that's very kind! The era is a little bit vague but I was going for round about the first decade or so of the 20th century. The tea clippers were still about but their days were numbered. The location is left vague as well but the cottage is modelled on one in Cornwall.

Thanks everyone! Really glad you're all enjoying it! No idea what happened with the link. Seems to have broken and then fixed itself!

The Devil's Teeth
By GOC Games
https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/2658-the-devil-s-teeth/

As you enjoy a twilight pipe by the sea wall, you watch the surf break over the treacherous submerged rocks known as the Devil's Teeth.

You are looking forward to batoning-down the hatches and spending the evening beside your hearth with a warming tot of rum.

However, as a tea clipper hoves into view over the horizon, your evening is about to take a very different turn...
