Hey kids!! What a bunch of awesome stuff.

There was this huge lull but then a whole bunch of new stuff just popped up.

Unfortunatelly it is about time to wrap this sucka up. Lets give this comp to . . hmmm . . lets say the 15th??

So unless there is a huge call for this to be open for a while longer --this little bad boy will be closed as of 15th of April. Many thanks to all those that were kind enought to participate in this show and tell.
It has totally proved my little theory that there is a lot more going on in AGS land than we are being lead to believe . .

Conspiracy I say!

Anyway - AGS bakes my cakes! I hope we do another one next year.

Until the 15th - keep releasing!

(oh and somebody help me reach my personal goal of having this thread reach 3 pages!! :()

Woah! Pixelated boobies makes this thread all worth while  :=

A game I made in 3 days over Christmas 2007.

There is a trumpet in the right bottom corner of the 2nd screen - but is a pixel hunt.

Quite right St Nick.

Also, Like most of the comps it takes a little while for folks to a) see the thread and b) finish their work. So this gives a little breathing time to get stuff finished so that it can be release or discuss how the activity could be run better.

Plus it would be kinda cool to have a heap of fun stuff posted about the same time.

BTW, the first time this activity was run it was ace. The second time it was run, not so much (only a couple of pages/entries). Harkening back to those days I think that there was some troubles with the capacity at the forum (it was shut down atnd transferred for a while) and the numbers were kinda down. The AGS community has grown over the last couple of years. Hopefully that means more folks with more stuff to show.

Also this discussion time means that if people want to make changes or suggestions as to what we should do with activity or if we could take it to another level then we have time to do so. As I said before, this is totally open to ideas. let me know if you have any I think its plausible we could accomodate.

Thats it. Oh btw, has anyone noticed how much the Dexter theme is not unlike Cpt Lechucks theme? Just me? Okay Just me.

To reitterate, this activity opens on the 22nd or later if need be.

Go with it.

Don't be afraid to show your wares. You may just enspire other to make more games.

Gung Ho ladies.

Let me know if the 2 something weeks is to short to prepare. I'm sure it can be extended if need be.

Good to see folk interested.

I wonder what dusty gems will be uncovered.
#7
Sure,

Of course it's about momentum and releasing pretty much what ever you like - you take me too literal. My statements just mean that pretty much stuff that gets released in release somethings are stuff that people did stop working on and didn't have the momentum to finish and probably never would have had it not been for the opertunity of a release something.
I'm not really asking for dusty old crud and I doubt that many people would feel comfortable showing stuff that they thought would fall into that category. It's usually art resource and games that get finished, not to their desired end, but to the point that people get the jist of what you were going for.

I always though release something was about getting to put out for discussion, those projects that you work really hard on but will, for one reason or another, never finsh. Instead you make them complete enough for folks to enjoy anyway.

New stuff is deffinately welcome, but I generally think that new stuff gets posted in Game Announcements and C&C any way, theres generally no where that people can go and say - hey I tried really hard on this but didn't finish, what do you think.

Thats my theory. Anyway thats the majority of what happend in the first 2.

- Of course it is open for discussion and open to suggestion, hence this thread.

I'm all ears.

Just letting you know that there is a new - Release Something thread starting up on the 22nd of Feb in Comp & Activities.

Here:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=36831.0

But as the thread isn't for posting until the activity starts, I'm starting this thread if you wan't to talk about it.

Okay kids,

Im starting a new - Release Something for 2009.
I mean it's been two years since the last one, so your hard drives would be brimming with useless crap by now. I know mine is.

For those of you who have started many games but have never finished anything or for those of you that have attempted greatness but just missed the mark, it's your time to shine. This is your hour, your epoch.

But wait, hold on, don't go showcasing your wares just yet, you need time to prepare. That is why I am giving you until the 22nd of Feb( date subject to change).
But you can chat about it in the GenGen if you need to. I'll start a thread there and let you discuss it if need be.

Oh, and for all of you that are not familiar with Release  Something TM, then it's simple. If you have something that is never going to be a game and is facing the possibillity of never seeing the light of day . .then post it! Or don't, I don't care. Do whatever.

Until next we meet.

FrisB - out.

And, don't go posting in this thread before gilbet gets to lock it or :

Sheep, I like sheep: white sheep grey sheep . . um. . .
Anyway- what a stupid Jam, thanks to everyone that entered- all the entries are great and I will now painstakingly proceed to tell you how each one is great on an individual basis(but backwards!!):

Loominus - You didn't win as it is technically not a sprite. But if this was a competition for coolest sheep ever you may have one. Also you draw better than me and I hate that - we are now mortal enimies !

Tube & Gilbot 7V000a - those technically are not entries but you do make perfectly good sheep. So you get a scratch and sniff sticker that smells like strawberries.

Cameron - You get third place as the idea is cool - although you cant tell what it is appart from the hoofs so it could be a goat or an albino satan.

Evil guy - Burps are cool -keep em coming.

Indie Boy - Nice wooly beetle.

Cat - sorry - its  too good - that goes a against you. Draw worse next time.

Space boy - Second place - it's tiny and sheep - two of my favorite things.
I copied this gif and blew it up on my 'puter and it is a really great tiny sprite. Great work.

Cino - You wierdo ! You win - its cool.

Stajp - Worlds greatest reference - nice.

The J Burger - um - okay da vinci - the lourves over there man.

Yarooze - I was tempted to place this one - Its really quite good

Inkoddi - thanks for starting this one off with a bang -You get a belated fourth place.

Trophies is Space boys sprite painted Silver Gold and Bronze if you can be bothered. And cudos to everyone that mentioned reference but didn't really use it.

Okay I'm totally over sheep now.

Cheers.

The best part is, if you look closely long enough, you can really see the sheep (or it's time to make an appointment to my eye doctor).

Better call the doctor already. Although If you're seeing things, laying off the alcohol might help. ;)

Rubbish!!!! Dr Frisby perscribes more alcohol. Much more.

Also layabout - I am half welsh and you are half right :P

I will judge this tomorrow just incase there are any late entries (its late on the 17th in oz right now)
They're all awesome - keep em coming.

Nice stuff kids. But we need more if we want to create a formidable flock.

Yes I did just say formidable flock.
