Not only can the game's background animation continue now, but they're far easier to script as the Icon dialogue module I am using uses the general scripting commands. This makes it far more straightforward to change characters' talkcycles (and expressions) and anything else.

I am also using an icon based dialog system for the first time (like The Dig) and it is a lot of fun
