I played this demo last night. I was very impressed. One hour long, and great atmosphere, fun puzzles and a lot of Stephen King references. You play somewhat with the types of characters included, but then makes them aware of the fact, which is always fun: "Do you think this is the Breakfast Club?"

How long will the full game be?

My thoughts this month:

Vasile the Templar:
Spoiler
Nice graphics and voice acting. The game unfortunately falls between two chairs and turns out neither really an adventure nor a learning piece. For me, the long non-interactive parts and the cooking became tedious. The basic idea for the story is good, though.

The Vasa Fasa:
Spoiler
Escape the room-game set in a historical scenario. Blondbraid delivers high quality graphics and a good puzzle. Short on playtime compared to the other entries. I did want to see the heroine's fate later on.

Tauno:
Spoiler
The whole Kaurismäki vibe give this an extra dimension. Solid delivery on story, graphics and puzzles. I especially liked the character-driven humour. I did not like the maze puzzles nor the difficult doors, even though the latter works well as a joke.

Three Lions:
Spoiler
Ah, GOC Games returns! The game is filled with 96 throwbacks, music, posters, chocolate brands etc. The graphics are pixellated, probably in 96 style themselves. The story is filled with humour, fun puzzles and it all seems nicely tied together. Even though I could spot the ending, it was satisfactory - and it's one of those games that somewhat tells the difference between American and English humour.

Who to vote for?
Spoiler
I voted for Three Lions. Both WHAM! and Blondbraid made very good MAGS games and was considered. It's great to see WHAM! put his money where his mouth is - It's easy to point out things that can be done better (re:mags youtube videos), but he actually shows how to do it better. (In a way I wouldn't be able to, for instance.) We're lucky to have you all.

Completed Game Announcements / Re: Flight

Congratulations on the release! I played it and enjoyed it. Compared to some of the earlier games set in this universe, I found the action scenes a bit easier and the puzzles perhaps a bit trickier, but not too difficult, either. I like that you seem to make connections between your games! The colour scheme is lighter, though the game is still very much in the horror genre.

Late to the party, I played this one tonight, then read everyone's comments here. I understood the story, and despite the bugs, I solved it on my first go, though I had to repeat actions to get progress.
Spoiler
I started by pulling the big lever on the machine, guessing it was the on switch. But resetting it and pulling it again later did the trick. And I had to click a lot of times on the Angel before something happened.

I guess my understanding of the story has more to do with me reading Clive Barker and the Bible than anything else, though.

So...
Spoiler
is "God" evil? At least those mad Seraphim are scary enough to break the mind of anyone.

.

The bugs have been commented by others. I do wish to emphasize the need for a consistent policy of either naming all the hotspots or none of them. I prefer them named, but once they are visible by mouseover, the player assumes that anywhere a name does not pop up, is not an active hotspot.

Looking past the bugs, I like the moody drawings and the angelic plotline. The story could be told more clearly, to the benefit of players who has not read Clive Barker.  :-D Thanks for the game!

Quote from: WHAM on Mon 30/06/2025 01:27:57At a glance it seems I am not able to delete the extra copies myself, so I'll wait for some guidance on how to clear them out so that only the one copy remains and then I can try to add the missing images to it later on.

I disabled the extra entries for you.

Thanks, Snarky. I wouldn't have clicked on it if not for you saying so.

I had a lot of fun playtesting this one. Playing the dog/robot combo was a fun change of pace. Well done, and congratulations on the release!

Sadly, no more entries, which means @Creamy is tha winnah! On the positive side, the winning entry shows ingenuity, humour and storytelling skills. Good job!

While I, your host, failed miserably in making a round people wanted to participate in, probably straying too far from the original formula. Consider the egg boiled and the omelette broken.

Huge applause and congratulations to Creamy!  (nod)  (nod)

Some more missing games are reported. They are not in TheTMD's list of missing games, so I hope they may be out there:

All The Magical Things
Medieval Prisoner

Both by Gepard.

Still impressing! 50 locations? Whew! Sounds like this will be a long game.  (nod)

I got curious. Got it in five.

I'm giving this one more week before declaring Creamy the winner. So: entries in before June 10th.

If I remember correctly, you can't find the password in the game. Doesn't she ask about a specific thing that can be googled? I think the only way through the game is trial and error (or using the walkthrough).

@chelsea - Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hey! Norway and Finland both belonged to Sweden at the same time! We can all make a game and set it in Finland!  :-D

Quote from: lakerz on Sun 01/06/2025 23:58:01I appreciate your attempt to help.  I did try selecting the .zip.001 file from within the 7zip GUI and then click extract, and it gives me the error message.  Oh well I think this is one that is a lost cause for my computer.  Looked interesting though and use of AI was intriguing.
I tried again, and it works fine for me. I'm using Windows 11, 7z2409. After opening the 7z app, I mark the 001 file and select Extract, and the rest is automated. The end result is 15,5 Gb large, and you probably need a lot more hard disk space just to handle the unpacking. So I guess if you have an older computer, the problem may be in the hardware.

Hey, this was a lot of fun! Smooth action, and some thinking involved, as well! Great stuff!

@Creamy - I'm impressed. As long as the dog got his biscuits after his scene, I think you have it all. Good work!

Anyone else out there planning something?

Quote from: Let's Get Cooking on Wed 28/05/2025 23:12:36It's working again, thank you.  I got an error screen so managed to add it twice... sorry!  I added images to one entry using edit, is there a way I can delete the other one?
I deleted it for you.

What happens if you swap cNPC with Player in the rest of the commands after SetAsPlayer?

Quote from: AGA on Wed 28/05/2025 21:12:59I *think* adding and editing should work again now.

I confirm that editing games are working again!  (nod)
