Long time no see!

I've been lurking around from time to time and specially around mittens season ;-D
It looks like a blast with all these amazing people attending!
unfortunately I won't be able to go, however, I figured maybe there are some dutch folk willing to meet up for a weekend of fun and adventure somewhere in the netherlands? (non-dutch folk also welcome ofcourse)

Who's in?!

excited about the last book?

I think Edgar Wright is a great choice for directing this! and even though at first I was doubtful about Michael Cera as Pilgrim with every new trailer I'm diggin it more and more.
the scott in my head is way different from Cera's sorta way of doing, but still I think it can be a great flick!
how are you guys feelin about this?

Dittens! Dutch mittens! mittens with pod smokin' wooden shoe wearin' prostitutes!

well maybe I kinda over did it there, but anyway to all you dutch farmers roaming the AGS forums, let's unite!

seriously let's hang out for a day, Holland is so small we can easily get together for a day or something! go swimming, go bowling, watch a movie, have a BBQ, play a game of ganzenbord! HOERA!

I suggest the city of cities; Amsterdam! or maybe Haarlem since I live there and that would be convenient for me  8) and for all since I live near the trainstation and we could have the BBQ on my terrace!

reply if you're interested
let's pick a date! I guess somewhere in june or july would be fly, eh pimps?

ofcourse other nationalities who happen to be in the hood are welcome aswell!

love peace & peanutbutter your pal,
AWESOME RON!

---EDIT---

are there any? are they downloadable?

alright first things first: I rock! hence I need those ultimately awesome 'cream-like' background visualisations, you know the kinda stuff they used on their reunion gig? (searched for an example but internet failed to provide me one)

to make things a bit more clear 'cause this is getting weirder with each second: I want, no, I neeeeeed a dvd or something similar with about an hour of non stop psychedelic visualizations for my band's first gig! yay!

by the way if you care you can listen to 'Garden' (my band) here:
www.myspace.com/listentogarden

and if you truly, deeply, love me, CUZ I KNOW YOU DO! could you share some information (if you have any) about awesome non-stop mind melting psychedelic visualizations on a disc? or how to make some?

peace be upon you all!
I need to lie down

do these warnings ever work? I reckon everyone wants to check it out even more if it contains nudity... oh well!

friend of mine asked me if I would draw her and I did, so here she is:

what do you folks think? I only used a pen, no pencil, so it's kinda sketchy, and the colors are very, well, Mspainty, but I like to think I did a decent job, but please feel free to critique! I'm entitled to it hotdamnit! :P

does it look acceptable overall?
are the colors all right?
anatomically correct?
nice art?

let me know!
(please shout at me a lot!)

Critics' Lounge / help me ROCK this promo!
Fri 06/06/2008 20:44:27
I'm really in a tight spot here!
this is a promo for my (very pretentious!) band
and since my skills don't reach any further then MSpaint (you're welcome  :=) it looks pretty shitty!
though the idea is kinda neat!

there's "GARDEN" wich is our band name then some red arrows pointing to the band members, but paint just can't make it look awesome, the effect I was going for was 'painted on' arrows like it was real paint brushed on in quick big strokes, any of you fine fellows care to help me out on my predicament?

any other add-ons to increase awesomeness are ofcourse welcome!

reward:
many, many licks!

okay so here's the thing I had in mind:

and here's the original without paint uglyness:

go on! give it a try!
thanks ahead!

General Discussion / the atticts
Mon 03/09/2007 14:05:44

and so it began!
me and my drummer started this side project called 'the atticts' (addicts in the attic) and yes it IS lame I know that but who cares right? it's a sideproject...

we bought a fifteen euro multitracker piece o' sh!t but it works! and so we recorded this song!

www.myspace.com/atticts

tell me what you think eh? yes it's a simple song but we wanted to start off simple :)
yes it's lyrics are sad and pretentious, I don't care :P

also, if you've got groovy headbangin tunes sittin around on myspace this is the place to tell everyone about it! bring it on! (unless there is allready a thread like this I overlooked, in that case, I'm sorry)

keep creating yay!

General Discussion / my music week
Mon 11/06/2007 12:39:37
waking up with a headache that could kill a whale and my ears still ringing I realised I had a pretty DAMN good week!

so let me tell you about it!

it all started with Elvis Fergis a nice bloke with some nice tunes he opened for Willy Mason, a young folk singer/songwriter wich was a lovely concert.
his lyrics are very clever and he really gets it going!

then I went to the Who!
the Cult opened for the who wich was pretty cool.
I'm a MAD who fan I've seen them before but never like this it was a great show lots of endless wire stuff great GREAT jams, just awesome on the whole!
I even got a wink from Pete Townshend, probably 'cause I was looking ridiculously happy or something.

then I went to see bowling for soup, not really my thing but I had fun.

then there was this festival with lots a dutch bands and I had a backstage pass wich equals free beer al day long HUZZAH!

and finally I had tickets to see Robyn Hitchcock and the venus 3, the whaddayasay? Robyn Hitchcock (some new wave guy) and the venus 3 (wich are actually 3 members from the minus 5! still doesn't ring a bell? the guitarist is Peter Buck who also does guitar on REM, ahhhhh now you get it?)
this was the small hall in paradiso, I've seen REM times before (even met Peter Buck and Mike Mills) but this time I could litterally sneeze on him if I wanted to.
awesome!

but wait! there's more!
same night in the big hall of paradiso Patti Smith performed! so I sneaked in and got to see her whole show wich was just magical I even remember weeping at times.
Patti Smith started earlier then Robyn Hitchcock so when I was watching Patti all of a sudden Peter Buck comes in and stands next to me! WHAT? YES! later he walks on stage and starts jamming with Patti they even played everybody hurts, fukkin awesome!

so then Robyn Hitchcock started wich was cool and after the encore is over Lenney Kaye (from the Patti Smith group) comes on and they start jamming for another half an hour, Peter Buck even played some drums.

let me tell you it was one hell of a night! Cameron Crowe could make a movie about it :P

so I woke up this morning headache and all and realised it's been a DAMN good week!

so how about you? what bands blew you away lately?
#17
and what a surprise, it ain't that good!
any of you guys heard?
any one else thinks Axl shoulda called it quits 9 years ago?
#18
I seem to remember there are some REM fans on this forum.
I myself am a really big fan and there are lots of rumours of real big REM news being released today!

rumours say former drummer Bill Berry might be joining thhe band again! wich would be KICKASS!

and kinda logical since he drums on the john lennon cover: #9 dream and also played drums on their Rock n roll hall of fame thingy!

anyone else as excited as me?  ;D

General Discussion / Knytt
Sat 24/03/2007 16:47:54
I was surfing 'round the big ol' world wide web looking at some ICO forum when I found this game.

the Knytt is a small monkey like creature abducted from his homeworld by an alien only to crash on an unknown planet scattering 11 parts from the alien spaceship, it's up to you to gather those lost parts so you can go home again!

easy story, easy gameplay, easy graphics, hours of fun and wonder!

anyone ever played this one before?

General Discussion / more indie movie madness!
Fri 23/06/2006 17:18:42
HUZZAH!

after years of being a lazy-ass poo-hole I decided it was time to...
GO BACK TO SCHOOL! yeehaw!
wich is pretty hard for me since I dropped out of school when I was about fifteen, as some of you old charlatans might remember.
I kinda forgot where I was going with this story but anywho, they (they being the High School for the Arts in Utrecht) accepted me as their student!
wich is awesome! out of 200 people that applied they picked 25, and I'm one of those!
* FruitTree boogies
ah what the heck!
* FruitTree boogies some more!
I'm going to study Audiovisual Media! (movies and television)
and I'm proud to present my 'project', the 3min lasting short that I had to make to become a student at this school.

clicketyclick

so tell me, am I really better than Roman Polanski? (teehee  :=)
no really I'd love to hear comments or critiques or random screams, really anything goes!
but I'll give you a cookie if you say something nice about my flic!
