"War. War never changes.
The Romans waged war to gather slaves and wealth. Spain built an empire from its lust for gold and territory. Hitler shaped a battered Germany into an economic superpower.

But war never changes.

In the 21st century, war was still waged over the resources that could be acquired. Only this time, the spoils of war were also its weapons: Petroleum and Uranium. For these resources, China would invade Alaska, the US would annex Canada, and the European Commonwealth would dissolve into quarreling, bickering nation-states, bent on controlling the last remaining resources on Earth.

In 2077, the storm of world war had come again. In two brief hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new civilization would struggle to arise."

Make a tune until 28. November 2015 about a future war event.
Describe what war event is awaiting us in future, so we can get ready.

The following picture shows a hand movement that is very important in Golf.
Use this hand movement and make some music with it.

Example: You could use this movement to smash a guitar, or hit your piano in a particular way.
Or you could ranscribe the animation sequence into a rhythm.

Whatever you do, post it until midnite on 31. December 2014.

I have the box checked "use low-resolution coordinates in script" for a very old game project that was imported from ags 2.6 to 3.21.

Does this in any way affect the game? (like the finding of correct walking paths, or precision of walk behinds etc.)
Is it better to rescript the whole thing into normal resolution?

At the moment I continue to script everything with a division of 2 like:
player.walk (145/2, 123/2);
Like this I have to think less and can use screen coordinates...

I am currently composing and sampling the music for my adventure games with Finale 2012 and the Garritan Symphonic VST library.
Then I pass every single voice through Ambience Plugin and remix it with ProTools to get some dynamic details.
The results are OK. However I would like to get more perspective and deepness and details.

Is there a better VST library / plugin combination that someone can recommend?
Do results get better if I'd use a special sampler to resample everything
before mixing like native instruments kontakt 4 or similar?

What do you use to make your midi music sound better?

I have a sequence of connected rooms with different legacy music volume adjustment properties.

When I enter the room sequence from the first room by an aMusic5.play();   command they get all ignored.
When I enter the room sequence from the last  room by an old PlayMusic(5); command they work.

If I try to use the old command in the first room it doesn't work.
When I try the new command in the last room volume also doesn't get adjusted in the last room...

What can be the reason for this and how can I fix it?

I would like to indicate possible inventory interactions to the player.

So if the player has an active inventory and flows over another inventory item
the curser starts to glow if the inventory interaction is possible.
The same for objects, characters and hotspots.

Like this people don't have to tryout that much unnecessary inventory combinations.

What would be the best approach for this script?

My verb coin moves when the background is scrolling.
This causes that sometimes while the background is scrolling a hotspot doesn't react because the voin has moved forward...
How can I keep it exactly in position over the hotspot even though the background is scrolling?

General Discussion / Website Hacked - Malware
Wed 19/06/2013 08:12:50
This morning all my game websites were hacked and compromised.

The result was that a malware called JS/Blacole.DH.1 was distributed for some minutes through my game websites.

I instantly managed to delete and reupload all my content and it is clear now, also changed my passwords.

However I wanted to ask what else I should do in order to prevent this from happening again.

Thank you for all support.

Do you know what a "White Russian" is?
Or a "Bloody Mary"?
Or a "Wodka Martini"?

Sure you know some cocktails.
Just choose one that you like and make a piece of music that is based on the same ingredients and mixing techniques!

Maybe you could name the ingredients and also show a picture of the cocktail...

Don't drink and drive!
It's wrong...

You know what a battle-rap is, don't you?

If not then watch these popular ones:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwSKCZJxLXg&feature=fvwrel

Now the task is to make a battle-rap among two adventure characters.
You can choose any characters you want, but they must appear in an adventure game.
It can be an AGS game or a classic one...

Any language is allowed.
If you can't sing or speak even computer generated text is allowed.
Or ask your neighbors or your family to talk for you...
Maybe put some dope on your mic!

If you don't feel like rapping at all you could also use two
adventure game tunes and make them battle against each other...

As you probably already know after a brief conversation and permission by Biciclotti I will make a new Tune contest.

Do you know these TV shows where they want you to be active?

Let's say:
- Aerobic shows: Where you can see a sexy girl with lots of ugly overweight persons in the background and they are very active.
- Far eastern meditation TV shows: Where you can see a meditative group and all have to behave like Buddha in the same dress..
- Telecollege mathematics TV shows: Where a math nerd is trying to tell you and a group of monkeys how intelligent integrals are.
- Shopping TV shows: Where you and a group of housewifes get convinced about Doctor-Schnitzwurzhuber's-mixing-hoover-vibratorâ,,¢.

Well, if you know any of these things then let me tell you that I don't like them...
They are somehow disgusting and should probably be stopped...

However I want you to become as active as all those persons that are mentioned above
and write a tune that could be the background music for one of these activity shows...

You can freely choose what activity has to be promoted by the show...

I recieved this mail, but cannot help.
Has somebody an idea what it could be?

"A couple of days ago, I downloaded a copy of A Second Face. When I try to start the game, I get this message:

"Unable to write to the current directory. Do not run this game off a network or CD-ROM drive. Also check free drive space (you need 1MB free)."

I have installed the game on a computer running Windows 7, and my hard drive currently has over 400 GB of free space. I'm just wondering if there have been any other reports of people experiencing similar problems with the game using Windows 7, and if not, what else I might be able to try."

It seems that I have to take this one over...

The theme is simple:

Write a piece of music that contains errors.
You can make one error in a perfect piece as an example or a continous deconstruction of an already existing piece.
The "error"could also become the theme or idea for a completely new form of music...
There are many possibilities...

The errors should be made in a way so that it is interesting or funny.

The entry with the most convincing errors will win.

As an example I uploaded this one here.

We all know this famous adventure scene:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4nJNaQIrsc&feature=related

Please write me a musical duel.

Rules:
-You have to use two instruments that compete against each other for this.
-You can use real instruments / Midi / VST libraries and so on.
-The winner among them is up to you.
-Examples: Banjo vs Banjo
                  Violin vs Trumpet
                  Horn vs Flute
                  etc.

Good luck.

I ocasionally stumbled on a possible bug.

I have two hotspots in my new game:

1: Hose (German for pants)
2: Schlauch (German for Hose)

In the English translation file they are:

1: Pants
2: Hose

When I play the game in English instead of "Hose" I get "Pants" over the hotspot.
I believe AGS doubles the translation in such a case...

Not a serious bug but at least an interesting one...

Pick an eBay article that you are currently watching and make music about it.

Rules:
- The eBay article still has to be in sale at this moment.
- You have to post the link to the article or a description/picture of it when you post the music.
- Every musical style, musical concept, instrument or way to produce sounds is allowed.
- It should be understandable for me what your music has to do with the ebay article.

I don't have a contract with ebay...
I just have accepted digital consumism...
But we could ask them to sponsor AGS right now!
Yeah!

Maybe it's the result of the two cup rating of Cosmos Quest 3...?
The review panel is getting harder and harder...
If I would read this comment I guess I would have a reason to be turned a bit down.

"A lot of effort has gone into this project, with original graphics and audio throughout, and largely solid technical execution.

But a leaden pace, bland characters, little indication on where the screen exits are located until you pixel-hunt your way over them, and only the barest bones of an engaging plot, reduce playing the third entry in this ongoing sci-fi series to a chore. The graphics are consistent, and the music is pleasant, but the lack of direction and ponderous gameplay are a severe hindrance.

Some puzzles seem arbitrary and, in a number of cases, confusing."

In 1748 Georg Friedrich Händel wrote his famous firework music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbBh1CJDOmo
Much later Igor Stravinsky wrote a firework music, when he was pretty young.

Can you please write a firework music for 2010?
