Good day all,
I was wondering on the homepage of AGS is the artwork made by Igor, and is that game finished or just for showcase?
Thanks :))

He makes hell of a use of 3D.

Guess I chose the right day to check up what's new in the AG community. I like this very much!

I offer my humble knowledge of arts for a simple game. Preferably a begginer project. Fun fun fun b4 all :D

hah. definitely an award for the approach on "remaking." the first comment kinda put me off because it came from someone obviously inexperienced, and un-sensitive to genius ideas like this one. keep it up.

Hey, lol.
I wanted to celebrate my 1000th post, which was coming for the last few years as I was always on the 9-hundreds. I felt General discussion forum wasn't really the place where I wanted to celebrate this oh-so-big event  ;), and also it says before entering Adventure-related talk and chat, that:
"If it's AGS or adventure-related, and it's not technical, it goes here."
And I wish to think of it as AGS related, and AGS as a community.  :-* Usually when I'm really bored and forget about facebook and those other nasty habits that make up my life, I come back here where I feel really warm, I must tell you. I came here when I was 14, with big teen-like plans on making the next best thing. At least for my taste. I'm almost 23 now, still young tho', but much more capable and experienced than before. I see that I couldn't have picked a better moment as Back 2 the future is out (!!) and that will probably be the first real adventure game (not counting a few AGS ones I catch up with now and then - props to Journey down, of course) that I will play, I'll try even every episode. I wasn't this excited for ToMI, tho' I tried to play it but long story short, I've had technical problems (old hardware/even software)... I plan on catching up tho. Even with the final chapter of MI4, I never got to finish that old thing, didn't hold on to me really. Prolly getting a fairly new comp. in Jan so I'll do some catching up as I've put my college time on hiatus :D It is just something I felt I had to do, hmm.

Lastly, I also noticed the responses on the forums aren't very prompt anymore, am I right? Some thread titles also implicate the decay of AGS?

But aside with the grim, what have you been reaping lately? :D

With this post I just wanted to pay homage to this community that I believe is one of it's kind in many ways. The humor, the intelligence and the creativity is what kept me coming back here, and I'll always remember this place as a putting your dreams into reality type of place.

Now I'm talking too much and saying nothing at all :)

regards from czar; one of the many.  :=

whoever has it better post some gameplay videos on youtube, ye-yeah!

Why until february?

I loved the game, tho I wasn't expecting it to be low-res, or was I doing something wrong. The only thing that makes this a non-pro product are too few slides of animtion, otherwise it's a great work. The music ofcourse awesome, the story keeps you goin.
When's the sequel? I had a feeling the first part would end at the most interesting part.

I hear you.
I've been around for 8 (eight) years, since I was 14 (fourteen) :), and even though I felt competent at that age I still haven't done much. Back in the day I had a lot of different ideas for games, and I never finished any of it, even the one roomed ones.
The problem is I've never gone too deep (or any sort of depth) into AGS scripting, and my enthusiasm was often choked by every day agenda.
My recommendation is to keep trying every once in a while :), you'll do it sometimes.
Currently I'm starting a new project that hopefully won't be too long and will be finished, and that is actually the main reason I'm back on these forums.
Right now, Gravity an I are gonna try a noir-styled fun-ness application. :)

Peace.

With no reason, I was wondering how many of you smoke, or have ever smoked?
If you managed to stop, tell us why and how, and if you still smoke share your view on it all.

I am a smoker, and lately I'm starting to believe that a lot of my procrastination problems are related to this activity. Anybody have the same feelings about this?

Once again I'm trying to finish what I've started, and this time it is only a few months since my last try. :)

I have a better vision of how to make it work, so what I am looking for is:

A short story.
You can send me your short stories and I'll choose the most appropriate one.
The genre is not important as long as it is short and interesting. Also the author should be open to smaller changes and adaptation :).

This way I'll find inspiration for the artwork and we can go from there.

Peace and love.

EDIT:
Ok, I thought some more on the direction I'd like the game to go, and would definitely be satisfied with a noir style story, so those with experience in this sort of genre are welcome to share ideas, even if only as a consultant.

It's psychology what I study, and it's for a paper I wrote about kids and video games. It's not all black what I wrote in. It actually concludes with more positive features than negative with impact on you cognitive and in some researches on your social skills.

The german kid, actually the video I want to present doesn't have to be genuine, but more an example. It just has to be plausible.

The 10 min compilation isn't bad, I believe it has all I need, just in a strange order. I'll search the compilations on youtube some more, or maybe I'll just choose from there, now that I know under what to search. Don't know why I was looking under crazy player.

thanks all.

edit: haha, stupid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lg28yENvrBg&feature=fvw
the first part is actually believable.

Hey all, what's up?

I was wondering if you knew about some videos of crazy kids playing video games. I have a presentation about it next week @ college.

I think the crazy german kid is the winner, although he's a bit long. I also remember another kid playing Unreal or CS (older vid) and then he's like smashing his monitor with his fist, but it's a tragedy as he is hurt by it and doesn't really smash it hard, even though he is vividly upset. hehe  :)

Anyways, any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Your English isn't too bad but why do you call half the games Trash?  :P

More AGS games are always welcome.  :D

We in Croatia also call a lot of things trash. We have disco trash nights, eurodance trash, rnb trash. You put trash so it wouldn't seem that you are "really" listening to the stuff, and then you can enjoy it freely.  :)
It's a part of our youth culture slang.

Ok.
A sketch artist (BG, chars), freelance offers his work, he he. Not too lousy lately :) Can't show you much cause I don't have it online, but if you feel incapable on your art side, definetly PM me.

Peace.

edit: synthetique, maybe we should team up?   ::)

Need everybody, except a sketch artist, which would be me.  := I have never finalized anything in digital, and have nor time nor the energy to try it now, but I want to be involved in a game making process nevertheless.

The game should be relatively short, dominantly humorous and what I would like, inventive.
So, non typical settings, hidden areas and so on would be most welcome. Anything non monotone. (e: that means more animations..)

So, colorists, story people, scripting people, music composers, voice actors (??), animators, directors (!) ...anybody PM me.  :)

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi.

I was typing a really nice post earlier which got deleted and so I don't feel like typing it anymore.  :P

I'm looking for a teacher let's say. An entusiastic (or not) and patient mentor who could show me the basic coding process in AGS, and in between we would make a few short, maybe one room games, just so to make some.  :)

I'm a potentially fine artist (like sketching) but that isn't the point. The point are them fun short games.

Thanks in advance.

Peas. :)

I think I'm about to have an a-ha moment.

What I understood is that you CAN NOT just write (int value)
It seemed like it was only for display and you had to put the value yourself. ::)

Now I'll just have to try to implement it, but I think you helped me a million.
Thanks. :)

Ok, so it took me five years from being introduced to AGS to actually start working on something we could call a game.
So I've been up all night and I seem to have problems with reading the manual.

What I have is the basic problem with script definitions... :

I seem to run into same the same problems, whenever i try to connect something with something I wrote I get parse errors, unexpected or already defined error messages.

The easiest thing for me to understand it would be on an example. (Btw I tried DLing the demo quest, and besides the fact that I'm currently on dial-up, it stops on 8%)

What I'm trying to do is after an option in dialog 1 is to run a script

i put run-script 1
and then try to call it with dialog_request (even tho' i don't know where or how should i write the script correctly).

To put things short.
How do i make after an option in dialog for both players (cEgo and cNeso) to go to room 2?
Where do i put what?
Where do i put variable definitions.

Why

function dialog_request(1) {
cEgo.ChangeRoom(2)
cNeso.ChangeRoom(2)
}

doesn't work?
