It's clearly got the pathos, at least.

Actually, you can't, lo-res. At least not in most democratic states. Since certain international laws (e.g. human rights) are considered to be "above" state legislation (just as federal law is "above" the laws of individual sub-states), it doesn't matter what the law says - human rights say murder is a no-no, and if your country's legislation disagrees: Tough luck, it's still illegal.

Unless, of course, by "enough" you mean about 75% of the population of the states who signed said treaties. ;)

Dr. Strangelove or How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb. It doesn't get much funnier (or darker) IMHO. And Team America: World Police... although it's way funnier when drunk than when sober.

Alright, that's enough serious submissions for a genuine contest, and I think they're pretty awesome. Keep 'em coming, people!

I'm filled with astonishment, eager anticipation and envy in equal amounts. If the rest of this game will be as good as the art...

I think we all know there can be but one sensible position in this debate.

(Don't have anything constructive to add, either. Sorry)

This time it will be even grander, as I aim to create a story that branches into sub-stories, resulting in multiple endings, just like the best adventure games. I

So you think we're going to have one of these... "stories" this time? I find that hard to believe, personally.  :=

As I said, the classical "crazy AI" thing (HAL, Shodan, Glados (spelling may vary), Master Control System), but you play as him. Or her. Or it. Or whatever.

No problem. Deadline's been extended to the 25th. Now get backgrounding already!  ;)

1) Cascade Failure. Basically, it's the classic "Evil AI" thing, but with a spin - you play as the computer. So, of course, for the player it will seem as if the crew was slowly spiraling into madness... now, where WAS that termination robot?

I like this idea of playing an omnipresent, omniscient HAL kind of AI. Controling other machines and having to prevent humans from unplugging you has a lot of potential in term of story, dialogue, puzzle originality and gameplay.

Pretty much what I though. Of course, the player would not be completely almighty and omnipresent at the beginning but would instead have to increase the "AI Override Level" bit by bit, by nice talk... or by artificially creating a threat (e. g. having a cleaning robot rip a hole in the ship's hull) so the crew would be forced to give him further control in order not to die.

Well, I have a whole dump of abandoned games here. I really, really dig most of them, but they turned out to be a lot less practicable in reality than they seemed in my head. Ah, well... might just share my two favorite ones as well.

2) El Presidente. Another "Evil Genius"-ish idea, another an attempt at a mAGS game, another failure. I still hope to complete this game at some point in the future, though.

Actually, I'm going to put this back intro production very soon. I'll have to redraw most of the sprites, though, because they're pretty crappy right now.

General Discussion / Re: Language Rules.

If I remember correctly, there was a competition in Germany a few years ago to establish a word that would mean "the opposite of thristy". The winner was "sutt" (which is basically "satt" - satiated - with the vowel changed  :P). To my knowledge, nobody EVER uses or used that word.

Verbing weirds language.

Quoting Calvin = win.

Heh, they have Washed Ashore. And yes, I know the graphics are crappy, thanks a lot.  :P

/EDIT: Also, coming to think of it, it is a little weird to survive an explosion like that. Ah, well. Let's chalk it up to divine intervention and move on.

Well, there's still the Kingdom of Loathing community... and, if all else fails, "outside".

The music of Tropico is pretty goddamn great.

Walkable areas don't block them out... objects, however, do. You're welcome, though.  ;)

I've dressed up as some of the most ridiculous characters (including a witch!) and am slightly worried you might think I am crazy to have gone to some of the lengths I have gone to in order to make my sister laugh.

Keep in mind, you're talking to people who spend ridiculous amounts of their free time designing little and completely free games which pretend the 90s never ended and of which nobody outside this idle little community ever hears of, and unsure of whether it will achieve any fame even within the community. And we do so despite knowing this. And you're worried WE might think YOU'd be crazy?  :=

Apart from that, what Vince said.  ;)
