But where's the disco ball?  :)

The room is made with pixel by pixel so maybe you should try lighting it that style too?

QuoteOh, the scene where this background appears starts from the top of the screen and then slowly scrolls down in a cutscene to reveal the 'noodle restaurant' and the place where the player character can walk and interact with objects.

So I'm in trouble. First of all, take a look at the background..

320x200 pixels

640x400 pixels

..and tell me what the hell is wrong with it?

I think it's a nice scene overall, but I just can't figure out what's its problem. Maybe its the shadows (mostly because there isn't much of them) or something with the perspective. Drawovers are welcome and any advice which can help me to improve it.

It's also supposed to be a futuristic chinese street with lots of neon lights.

Why's there no shadows at all? And that 'chalkboard' doesn't fit the place. Maybe try colouring it white or gray as the rest of the room? It takes too much attention right now I think. I would also try making the furniture in the room look more 'roundish' if you know what I mean.

Except from that the scene itself looks really nice.

Yeah I just noticed my own stupidity.

Reading the scripting tutorial helped me understand couple of small things. My main problem was that I didn't know where to put the 'int variable' script (I was trying to put it under the 'first time player enters the screen' tag).

Thanks for all your help. I finally uderstand the use of variables now too  :)
#6
Umm.. this might sound dumb, but what do you mean by this 'var'? Yes, I am new to this.

Could you be more precise with your instructions please? Step to step?

I need some help with my script.

I want the script to display some text and do some other interactions IF the hotspot hasn't been interacted with before. But if the hotspot has been interacted with, the same actions won't happen again. What kind of script should I use?

Thanks.

And by the way, it's supposed to be somekind of temple, buried in ice and snow.

Well.. I'v made a big decision..

NO! No, no, noooo.. I'm not gonna stop working on this, or well.. kind of, I guess. I'm not gonna tell any more, but you can see from this pic, which I'v been working on, that this isn't from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Try InCreators background drawing tutorial as reference when you'll draw those buildings. He has a very good and easy technique to make them.

Time traveling, eh?

One of my favorite subjects. I think that time traveling isn't possible. It just can't be done. The time before 'this' moment doesn't exist anymore, and the time after 'this' moment hasn't been yet, so there is no such thing as future.
Everything we make in 'this' moment, creates the next 'this' moment and so on.

Oh well.. No one hasn't done it before (and I guess no-one ever will). Atleast if it would be possible it would have something to do with lightspeed (maybe going around the earth with lightspeed or something).

That little bush looks lonely. Maybe a friend or two for him?
#13
Nope.

It's looks pretty finished to me  ;)

Never watched any of the movies. I just know the guy and I'v always imagined him to look something like in those pictures.

But where is his matchette?

The mask is too white. It should be more ragged and dirty. Like in this picture.

I also think that you should make the guys clothes green (and very ragged too). Like in this picture.

Anyways. Very good for your first pixelation.

Well, only the interior pics are dark, but also too small to my opinion. Characters could have some trouble walking in such an small place.
#17
Thanks everybody. I didn't know that LucasFan worked on a same kind of project. Isn't he the guy who made New Adventures of ZakMcKraken, and Maniac Mansion Deluxe?

Anyways, I'll surely continue on this project. Good you liked it :)

Did you make the 'model's yourself? I mean, that they arn't just ripped from some site?
#19
Thanks.

The place is Andes (Peru 1936, if we want to be precise).

Indeed, I'd too like to know what program you are using.

Those look cool, but it's different if you just placed all the stuff with somekind of level editor (because no-one can draw that well.. atleast not anyone I know).
