that place remembers me the old movie Labyrinth, the one with David Bowie you know. I could suggest you to take inspiration there but I can't remember the ending  :)

However,is there any reason that brings you inside the labyrinth? Maybe you should think about an ending together with a more concrete beginning.
Typically, normal life is stopped by a big problem and you are supposed to restore everything with your voyage...

If I remember well, David kidnapped the girl's little brother...  ;D think about something similar. Actually, an enemy (not David!) could fit your story well...

Well I hope it's the right place to post thisÃ,  :)

We at Double Star Entertainment are starting the development of our first adventure game. Our name is Double Star because we are twoÃ,  ;DÃ,  I (programmer & musician) and a cool 3d artist: Iceberg23.

The storyboard is ready, but making all those 3d graphics will take some time, and I (programmer) don't want to sit down waiting.
So my idea (that has nothing new actually!) is to make "fake" room graphics (I mean 4 or 5 lines made in ms paintÃ,  :P) and use default characters to begin programming. Then, when the cool graphics are ready, just replace them.
I am not an AGS guru yet, that's why I would like some comments, tips, advice about what can be done and what I should be careful with while putting this idea into practice.

Thanks!

Whoops!

I found the other thread posted just a few time ago (I made the search today, when it wasn't posted yet!), asking about entering an open door. If you want to answer the door question, do it there:

However, I STILL have problems with my title! "The" or not "The"? ;D

Ok, I studied tutorials very hard these last days, and I was successful in battles like creating a Lucas-style GUI all by myself. But I still don't realize what's the best way to handle a stupid door! Simply, a door that you can open and that will lead you to another room.

Well, I use two objects: closed door and open door (is it good?).Ã,
Then I set the closed door to disappear when interacted and make the open door appear.
Now comes the problem. In your games, which event triggers the transition?
I want the player to "walk to door", once it's open, to leave the current room.
I use the "any click on object" interaction, the action I put in is: if cursor mode is 0Ã,  Ã, then change room. But it doesn't seem to work at all. why?
I tried with regions too: the transition works but it happens as soon as you open the door (=not the way I want).

The second great question isÃ,  ;D : I'm calling my next game "Jimmy Nand vs. The Evil Dr. Xor". Is it correct, or I should remove that "The" ? ???

Thank you!
ByeÃ,  ;)

translating english <-> italian
I'm not yet experienced enough to offer a valid help in any field (I'll update this post when I'll be ;) ), however, if you want your English game to speak Italian or vice versa, I would be proud to help. My contact: arrakis81@DONTSPAMlibero.itÃ,  Ã,  (...whitout the caps of course!)

Hello everybody!
The other day I was searching something useful in a cheap-computer-stuff basket in a shop. Among several copies of the usual "100 shareware stupid games" compilation, I found a quite old box containing "Prisoner of Ice" cdrom. Price: 10 Euro (6.80 pounds more or less).
To those who have played it: is it worth that money? I remember it had great graphics and HP Lovecraft related story, but what about its length and difficulty? Well, it's a good price of course, but I wanna know if this game is going to last more than two hours on my HDÃ,  ;D

Thanks for your comments, bye!

No doubt for me: THE best is X-Wing!
(expecially now that I could find X-wing collector series: X-Wing and TieFighter for Win98 with XWvsTF graphics engine!)

Best Soundtrack and Atmosphere: the old DUNE by Cryo, anybody remembers? That's where my passion for Frank Herbert's masterpiece was born.
